JBW and Weir are the only ones he signed, if you exclude the likes of Barry and Ugwu who are out on loan, I think.
These go to eleven.

Well, yes, by Branston via an agency to which he had absolutely no connection, I suppose.

I was only listing footballers.
These go to eleven.

Quote from a Partick fan on Pie and Bovril:

"I think Caldwell thought if we had a lot of possession today we would necessarily create chances, which didn’t happen.

The whole sorry state of affairs is pretty reminiscent of our 2-relegations-in-a-row of 2004/5. A big part of the problem seems to be attitude, there are a quite a few players at the club who aren’t interested/motivated in making the extra effort to try to win. Which is why any team with determination will beat us."

One game in and the pattern is set.
These go to eleven.

interesting, this is the culture that martin allen has inherited I believe, apathy from top to bottom, he is perhaps the one who does not fall into this bracket, whilst we are not pretty, it seems the mad dog will not stand for bad attitude.

Caldwell didn't come across as a motivator so it will be interesting to see how PT fare with the existing squad, and after he makes signings in the January window which I think they also have up north.

Having spoke to several players ie Tommy Lee, Ian Evatt etc, guess who the players said was the best man manager the team had had? Gary Caldwell!!!! They all rated him as a man manager!

Lee Richardson was reportedly popular with the players, too.

I couldn't give a flying fornication if they love or hate the manager as long as they get results, though...

Hmmmm, good man manager, but on a scouting and tactical level totally inept!
"Do you think I'm here for your amusement" & good riddance to bad rubbish

Very interesting.... was that after Evatt was suspended right at the end of Caldwell's tenure?

Perhaps without the human millstone that was Branston around his neck, Caldwell might improve.
These go to eleven.

Some people are fantastic on a 1-1 level but don't have the ability to create a team atmosphere or cohesion, let alone tactical & scouting skills. Man management is also quite a broad term- he might have showed great care for his players and been a fantastic guy but in more of a supportive mate way as opposed to someone who gets the best out of their players.

evatts suspension was due to him objecting to guy branstons involvement, he actually wanted Caldwell to stay and his objection was to GB Caldwell was forced to suspend evatt.

Spent some time with an ex Town player in the week who said how bad Caldwell was - cold with players and disconnected with the people around the club completely.
Was very very disliked at Wigan by his fellow teammates.
He said a lot worse though about saunders.
Said when fully recovered from injury he wasn't allowed to train with first team as Saunders filled in for him in training and regularly told the players he was better than them 'at his age' etc.
Everyone hated him apparently!

hmmm can believe all that. I spent some time with an ex town player last year and was talking about managers he played for, said Duncan was so dreary to play for but you were in no doubt about what to do come match day and that roy macc was great to work for.
