I don’t believe he was picking the bones out of positions or anything tbh. Just giving his/her take on the game.

Rory Delap had a very good career for an ordinary player due to his long throw.

I used to play with a bloke with an excellent long throw and it was a very difficult weapon to deal with - once saw him hit the angle of the far post and crossbar on a widish pitch from quite far out, keeper and full back in a huge scrambling tangle. As a keeper I wasn't particularly worried by crosses or corners, but I didn't like a long throw. (Father Muggleton was better at throwing out than catching as I remember.)

One small observation. When publishing a report on a football match online, or in a paper, it is usual to include the opposition's team. Punters like me who couldn't be at the game want to know what kind of team Wigan fielded, because we know a bit about football and will recognise the names and know how strong a team we played against. We really will! Had we been playing Nuneaton perhaps only the odd anorak would have known many of opposing players, but Wigan, a Championship team !!! ???

Come on, if a good job's worth doing its ....

Well that's why it's a debate board.

Wigan were at full strength. Powell in particular had the arrse for most of the match, but had obvious talent.

"The 2 centre half’s looked like a pair of Sunday league thugs"

Thought Evans looked more than that. Big unit, yes, but comfortable with the ball at his feet and played some very good passes forward out of defence. First impressions suggest he and Maguire could become a good pairing. Nelson is what Nelson is - got in some excellent blocks and reads the defensive side of the game well.

A word for our captain, too. Thought he did very well in front of the defence and was good with his passing.

Oh BTW did anyone notice that Martin Allen has switched the dugouts around?

Yes, bit surreal seeing Cookie in the home dug out.

Yes, but by switching dug outs MA is closer to the home end which makes it easier for him to try and lift the crowd with his antics etc,

Not much of a mention of Cookie's or Sam's welcome back. How was it, how did they respond?

I honestly couldn’t see anyone giving Morsy, Cook and Roberts anything but a good reception.

Great at the end when Tommy got a massive reception walking off, but it was also great when Martin mor4 or less demanded a similar response when he gathered all his players in front of the West Stand pointed to them and applauded a splendid performance against a strong Championship side. I really enjoyed the night and mad dogs antics helped to lift the atmosphere and put a smile back on the Spireite faces. Now lets take it into the League.

It was great in the West Stand last night, really good atmosphere.
