It was certainly Muggleton, could you not tell? Wedgebury is he of the high shorts. They are the highest pair of shorts since Lee Cattermole was swallowed up by his.

OK still learning who's who tbh. Martin Allen must have a sore throat tonight constantly shouting instructions and at last a manager who wants to push defenders forward and not sit back.

was impressed with evans to be honest, looks strong, assured and very calm in possession plus loved his little moment on the wing in the 2nd half.

Great performance from everyone. Quite a physical game. I was expecting a hoofball team but we actually played some nice football. I can't see many teams bullying us. I can see us being the bully's.

I was impressed by the 4-1-3-2 formation, allows young Carter to drift in. Can see that Rowley won't get much game time if Carter is fit.

Yes I thought Evans looks solid, but his partner Nelson reminds me a lot of Evo. Strong but a bit slow and I think he has a 50p right foot, the ball could go anywhere.

Coming away from the game tonight I would say the lads looked hungry. Hungry for success, plenty of positives. We didn't look overawed by the opposition.

If say Wednesday United Forest or Derby had been tonights opponents there would probably have been 1500 in the away end pushing the attendance to 4200+

Yes but they would have wanted a fee, where's Cookie kindly agreed to send his team at no cost

Testimonials have never been well attended?

Compared to league games like-for-like absolutely not.

Do you dispute that?

In reply to Moondog:
I was thinking more in terms of the attendance looking bigger than the financials.

I sat near the dugout this evening and it was noticeable how Allen seemed to try to man-manage Binnom-Williams, from making eye contact and giving him a firm nod of approval after his first touch until he hugged him as he came off. He also gave JBW jacks behind his back for a laugh once, much to the crowd's amusement.
I liked the look of Evans and Weston, but it is early days. We didn't really play much flowing football but stayed in it and competed against a technically superior side. It looks more like a team of men than last year's lost boys.

It was great to see so many past heroes, many of them looking in very good nick.

Great clean sheet from Tommy.
These go to eleven.

I've never understood testimonials tbh. Footballers are extremely well paid for what they do and the life they are able to lead from it is quite enviable. It's certainly a peculiarity (to me) that they are then further rewarded because they happen to work in the same place for ten years or so. I'd rather give you the cost of the ticket for actually doing a job that has real purpose, like saving lives.

Nothing against Tommy BTW; great 'keeper and decent person. And, if it's all going to charity, fair enough.

The traditional idea of testimonials goes back to a bygone age when the wages weren’t that great and there weren’t loads of jobs in the game for ex players.
I agree to a certain extent on the money although I think it’s absolutely right to mark the fact that someone plays for one team for 10 years in this day and age.
If you do what you always do, you'll get what you always get.

Carter is by far and away the best of the youth players

He’s not one of the youth players. We signed him from Woking. He did look very good last night though. I was impressed with his effort, pace and passing. Looks a very good acquisition.

First time watching in a long time last night.

Good energy, work rate and running from the team. Didn’t create a great deal, would be interested to see how we fare against teams with less quality at the back and hopefully build more pressure on the opposition defence.

Weston stood out for me, never stopped running, harrasing defenders and getting a foot in all over the pitch. Ugwu and JBW clearly going to be used as battering rams to get us playing in the final third as quickly as possible.

Defence looks solid to aerial stuff and well organised but a little slow on the deck, suspect quick forwards may cause a problem.

Promising, just hope the powers that be don’t f—- it all up now by unsettling the manager (who was also great btw)

We are a non league club with a non league team. Your analysis is like something they say on MOTD.
For the league were in were gonna cause more problems than were gonna get. Playoffs at least.

I agree with the owners comment though.
