Can't say that for certain but it's highly likely. We just don't have that playmaker that all those three teams have...even Croatia have Moderic.

As Roy Keane said we became the old England after 45 minutes and Southgate couldn't change it

Beaten by a better team, with better players. They have 2 or 3 world class players, we don’t.

They pushed on the full backs, stopped our wingbacks getting forward and allowed the Croat midfield to double up out wide. Our lack of quality meant it was hard to counter.

Southgate should have moved Walker out wide to full back, gone 442, and used the wing backs as wide midfielders and forced Croatia inside, played tight, denied them space and played for corners and free kicks. At 1-0 it was still there to hang on to.

Having said that, it’s a long long time since an England team got this far, even with a favourable draw. So some credit to the squad and management. They have done much better than most expected.

Maybe not but our country now returns to some sort of normality,a young side just mainly missing a real creative midfielder.

I’ve seen Croat school kids being coached. Believe me, skill is what they concentrate on. Touch, balance, ball skills etc.

Not a lot on the bench to change the midfield. It lost all shape when Henderson went off. Sterling was also a miss when he went off

Defence fell asleep to two quality strikers who exposed their lack of experience.

The most disappointing nothing was seeing croatias players (who have just come through 2 rounds of 120 minutes) zipping about with far more desire to win the ball and tackles than our lot who should have been far fresher. Modric could barely pick himself of the floor at times he was that knackered then you'd see him up winning the ball back or dictating play again. We lost our creativity when Henderson went off.

Failed to take the chances in 1st half cost us.
Only one team in it first and they then took over in seconds half, but it should if been 3 before half time


Gutted absolutely gutted but pride put back into the England shirt after so many poor shows

This isn't meant to be a dig, but Southgate is a safe bet for the FA, he's well mannered, impeccably dressed, polite, says the right thing at the right time, cruised through a gimme qualifying group, then had a last 16 draw that meant we could almost win the lottery, and when push came to shove he couldn't change it. Sorry but he's not the answer.

I feel a similar sense of pride now as I felt when Town went toe to toe with Liverpool all those years ago .
Great to see that we did it honestly, too. Pickford was banjaxed a few times but got up and got on with it.
England gave it all they had, I think. We were not cheated. The future could be bright.

One thing is for sure, we need a foreigner cap in the Premier League, get these young English lads into the top sides, and hopefully, hopefully, we may have a team capable of making a final in the next 10 years.

No fan of Brexit at all, but hope that one thing that comes out of it is getting the overpaid foreign mercenaries out of our sides. Man City and Chelsea do nothing to help our national side at all.
