Personally I like sitting now. I'm nearly 50 and have no interest in standing up anymore. In my younger days I wouldn't have dreamt of sitting and loved standing in the Kop with my mates, surging forward getting crushed up against the barriers, tripping over half full coke bottles rolling down the steps, wandering around standing with different groups of mates, It was great fun and all part of the experience.
Safe standing seems rather pointless to me, it's just sitting but stood up, if that makes any sense.
If people think safe standing will be like it used to be standing on the Kop I fear they would be sadly disappointed.
The only way to get that Kop feeling back would be a whole standing end. I'd move to a seat and let the standers have their standing back. I can't see that ever happening though.

Just my thoughts.

Completely agree with you - the rail system just allows sitting in a more vertical position. The essence of old-time standing was the movement, jostling and bouncing around. Of course it's that very freedom of movement that creates the potential for danger, so it's had to be eradicated. I'm a lot older than you - my early 'kop' experiences were behind the goal at Ibrox Park in the 1950s so I was against all-seater grounds instinctively. Like you, I quite like having a seat now - you can still jump up when we score a goal (Ok I know that's not often but you get my point).

Sitting in a more vertical position? So, standing then?

Enjoyed the terraces when I was younger but happy to sit down now
The terraces allowed for some great atmospheres

It’s all about having the choice of whether to stand or sit for me. Some people want to do one or the other and it’s about time the archaic views on the matter in England are left where they belong..everyone else in Europe is managing it

Standing without the freedom that the old standing gave to move around so basically the same as sitting.

I just think some fans are getting a bit carried away as to what it means. It’s still allocated spots, one per place, and the seats are locked in one position or the other..you don’t pick and choose over the course of 90 mins. It will be nothing like the olden terraces which I think some are hoping it will be like.

Aside from this even if we could afford it I didn’t think the design of the kop at the proact will allow it?

No idea about the feasibility of it on the Kop but Shrewsbury are managing it and I suspect the build for their new ground can’t be too dissimilar to ours in terms of structure

Except, crucially, that it's standing. Which is the point.

But is it? What’s the point of standing when your just stood in the same spot unable to move around. Standing at football grounds was great when it was proper standing, safe standing seems more like queuing. It just seems really pointless and I can’t see how it would satisfy those that remember proper standing.

Yes. I can confirm that standing is indeed standing.

No it's handstanding.

I've stood on a few of these terraces throughout Europe and a couple in Asia and they do feel different to Saltergate. But it is standing and doesn't feel like anything else

When my legs are extended I definitely consider it standing, yes.
