Davies did what players looking for their first shot at management are advised to do, he started low down in the sixth tier. He's worked very hard and, despite an initial dreadful run and poor end to the season, has kept them up. Now, before he's had a close-season to implement his plans he's sacked.
As one poster on their message-board (the only one who doesn't back the decision) writes he's been very harshly done to; that poster says he hopes Davies proves what a mistake has been made, like a certain Paul Cook who was sacked from his first managerial job - at Southport. Mind he'd be well advised to give Chesterfield a wide berth until certain people have departed the club.
