As Evatt said, 'They gave me everything today.'

That's been the problem. They've given everything and it's not been good enough. I fear for next season if the majority of this lot are here next season because I don't believe they are good enough for the Conference either. Whoever comes in to sort out a competitive team for next season, never mind a promotion winning one, will simply be handed the poison chalice.

A good start would be for the owner to make an appearance and give a positive statement that would lift morale.

Morale boosting statement - I wish..

Talk is cheap and it''s been proven beyond doubt.
God I hate this league.

Publicly claiming he was our most costly-ever player, overall, was a stunningly dumb move which made a rod for the back of a poor player in a poor side.

100% agree - even if he was reasonably successful, he was hamstrung after that build up. Totally shameful from that prick Carson

Extremely canny move if he has gone. Immediately puts the signing of new players into different realms of possibility.
Never quite as bad as some thought, but nowhere near as good as his previous career indicated.

Well lets hope it didn't come from next years player budget and there is separate pot for payoffs, it'll have to be a decent size pot

His agent will have got him a two year deal somewhere on less money but which is more attractive and less risk than staying here for another year on good money but then being unemployable. Under those circumstances a relatively small payout will do the trick 'cos at his age a 2 year is good security.

Don't think he really needs football - hasn't he got quite a good business.
God I hate this league.

His performances would suggest so.

Barry out next, please. Exactly the type of fraud we need rid of.
These go to eleven.

damn!! he was my player of the year,

wonder if he convince McCourt to go with him

What a bizarre player Jack McCourt is. I said early season he was a poor signing and then ate humble pie on here as he had a month where he played really well, scored some goals and became a kop favourite. He then regressed to his previous form. The odd thing was that he played well for a month!

Probably made them hundreds of thousands in gate receipts this year.
Not so dumb from their angle.

I bet Louis Dodds is the one with the relegation clause. It would have been a Jan signing as we were in the doo doo then. Dodds just stands out as being the obvious candidate.

Whitmore is the other candidate, mentioned on here before.

not sure why evo would have started him today though given that, whitmore is a name that has previously been suggested and he did not start today...

Out of all of Caldwell’s signings, I don’t there is one that stands out as worth keeping if you had the option of releasing them.
A new hope.

Smith and Dodds are reported to be players that can leave on a free as a result of relegation.

Neither would be a big loss in NL football I would guess

Explain how you waste more if they have just paid him up in full?

Well we either keep him for the duration of his contract at the full rate until it expires, which on past performance would be a big waste. Or we pay him up at a reduced rate and use what’s left to pay someone else

Spoke to Whitmore at FFR and he was saying that he is here next season and at FT he was crying his eyes out
