Well it looks like the club, as many predicted, is to be 'gifted' to a known failure, and that DA will still, in effect, be in control.

It's no longer a matter of 'if', Mr.Perkins. The disgusting mismanagement of CFC has seen us drop out of the league. Jobs will be lost as a result, not just within the club, but from places that relied on away support and related interests.

Now is the time to get involved. The people of Chesterfield expect no less.

No just Toby though, Lee Rowley and Dennis Skinner should also be involved (have I missed anyone?). They should put aside party politics and disagreements and form a small consortium of elected members to represent CFC
If you tell the truth, you don't have to remember anything.

I've tweeted him asking him to stay close and keep an eye on this. Have no trust in the FL or FA fit and proper persons test to help us so it is down to the local media, MP and Fans to ensure the future of the club is secure.

Not even sure that the conference will have as robust procedures in place either so could be even easier for a rogue to gain control once we are officially non league.

I'm guessing any takeover wouldn't be fronted by someone with a background like Brealey, which is a loophole that everyone should keep an eye on.

I think he actually showed his true colours with the last "investigation" where essentially he was played by Carson and then went AWOL when people started to question him.

Considering this affects many of his constituents his response so far has been pathetic.

Good luck with that.
I contacted Mr Perkins some time ago suggesting he contacts a group of local businessmen who are (or were) very interested in buying the club. Apparently DA called them “tyre kickers” and wouldn’t speak to them despite them collectively having the resources to fund a viable bid.
I have given Toby the name of one of the potential investors and suggested he contact him.
After two further emails asking for details of any progress he has made, I am still waiting for a reply or even an acknowledgement of my original email.
As I said, good luck!

Well let's hope he ups his game.

I was less than impressed by his last 'investigation'. Time to represent the interests of the town Mr.Perkins. Because many people are beginning to get the impression you're more than happy to get your boat race in the Derbyshire Times when it suits, but not willing to get your hands dirty.

I'm personally on the fence, and hope that he's doing something behind the scenes. Given the decreasing gap between the tories and labour, it might be in his best interests to act as publically as possible.

I'm going to play Devils Advocate. I'm not sure what we want Toby Perkins to do. After all he's not an Accountant. He's not an astute Businessman. Allen and Carson can basically tell him anything and he won't be in a position to contradict. I know we loathe the thought but Dave Allen owns the club lock stock and barrel and in all honesty if some opportunist MP came sticking his nose into my business, I'm sorry but he would get short shrift. Especially if he tried to dictate who I should talk to with regards selling my business.

I'd suggest that this case is a bit different.

Ashley Carson has used him as an honest broker in the past, when it suited him. At Ashleys request. So Mr. Perkins is already involved. And the same people who've used him to back their claims, would struggle to dismiss any kind of public campaign that sought to see the club in safe hands.

DA would probably ignore it. But potential new owners who might not be suitable could be perturbed by the spotlight.

Tend to agree.

Toby did his best to unearth the ins and outs of the Chinese bid which, I think, allowed most Town fans to reach a conclusion.

Then his interview with DA was probably more revealing, exposing a gross contradiction between Carson and his boss's version of events not to mention the owner's pretty caustic attitude towards his customers.

As you say, like the rest of us he can only work with what's placed before him. And he like the rest of are dealing with folk who apparently keep the Town Chairman in the dark in terms of who's shaken hands on a takeover.

Supposedly.
Never underestimate the stupidity of people

I'd agree with this. The remit of an MP is wide but does not extend to who the owner of a private business decides to sell to is not one of them. That's the purpose of the fit and proper test.

So do I. There's a limit to what he can practically achieve.

The post by Dalekpete on the Questionable Enterprise thread has been bugging me all day. One thing Toby could do is find out how much cash the PPP extracted either from the Dept of Education or individual colleges, and follow it's trail. Proper MP work.
Get it on, bang the gong , get it on
