Hi, for those of you who don’t know me I’m Dave Radford, and I’m manager of The Volunteer Centre in Chesterfield. Now, we run a project from The Centre called ‘Safe & Sound’ which provides emergency care for elderly and vulnerable adults across the local area. It can be anything from simply taking someone to a medical appointment to more complex personal care issues, it isn’t an exhaustive list.
This is a unique project and doesn’t happen anywhere else in the country and, because of that we have made the final of The Big Lottery / ITV ‘People’s Choice Awards’ (Calendar South region)and we are in that final with 4 other projects – 2 from Sheffield, 1 from Grimsby and 1 from Hull – (strange region I know).
Anyway, if we finish in the top three we will receive funding of £39,000 – which will fund the project for another year at least – and we’d like to make sure that happens. So, we would love you to vote for us. You don’t have to live in Chesterfield – or even be in the country – just have access to the internet and you can vote as many times as you have email addresses.
It takes less than a minute to vote and here is what you do:
1. Go to www.thepeoplesprojects.org.uk and select the Calendar South region on the map (light green)
2. Five projects will appear, click on the Safe & Sound project (you can watch the video on that page if you want)
3. Click on the button ‘select this project’ and press continue
4. Enter name, email address (and confirm that address) phone number and post code
5. You will then receive an email asking you to verify your vote, if you do not click on this link your vote will not be counted
Why should you vote? Well I think the money is much better doing good in our communities and also Chesterfield, North East Derbyshire and Bolsover receive less lottery funding than almost anywhere else in the country – so let’s even it up a bit.
If you could vote and then share this with your friends, family and colleagues we’d be extremely grateful.
Many Thanks - Dave

done
surely the project is better than 50k to run a gym, 50k for a refugee centre 50k to run a LGBT drop in centre
The Grimsby project looks useful though
Good luck

Just wanted to say that I'm the Treasurer of the Volunteer Centre. It's an amazing charity with fantastic staff and management, yes that's you Radders
This funding will mean so much to us and I guarantee that it'll all be used on helping the older generation in our (well, your: I'm a White Rose girl) area. Please, please do take just one minute to vote and share on your social media platforms.
Many thanks,
Cx

You have my vote.
I am standing for the Greens in local elections in an area (Loscoe, Amber Valley) which used to be a bit BNP. I got 42 votes last time out (the winner got over 500). You should easily get more than that!

Hello all
Just wanted to say that the project I told you about two weeks ago was today told it had been successful in gaining the £40,000 worth of lottery funding. Considering we were up against Hull KR Community Trust (big city) and a couple of Sheffield City Centre projects we did well to finish in the top three. I've no idea how many votes we got but thank you to everyone who took the time to vote, it means a great deal and is certainly the difference between the project ending in a couple of months and carrying on for another year at least.
Many, Many thanks once again!!!
Chesterfield supporters rule, ok!
