There is only Colchester outside the play off/automatic promotion places who have got more points than us in the last 5 games.

The encouraging form stat I'm clinging to is that Grimsby haven't won in 20 or thereabouts. And we've won 2 and drawn 1 of our last 5.

They haven’t won in 20 yet still find ourselves 4 points behind. How sad.

It is. Disgraceful.

And heads must roll if it ends how it could. Not necessarily metaphorically either.

To give this context, we have only played 17 games in the weeks Grimsby have played 20, and we have gained 8 points on them - 14 points v 6.
Not that is good from us.

I think we need at least 14 points from our last 8 games, is that possible? It's very important from all the remaining fixtures that we win our next 2 games at Grimsby & Morecambe to give ourselves a fighting chance of staying up. 48 points is our minimum requirement to avoid the drop! None of the bottom 7 teams have an easy run in even Barnet. They have to play 5 matches of which 4 of them are against teams in the bottom 5 so they are all 6 pointers. Grimsby have 3 home games left from their last 5 games and 3 of them are against the bottom 4 sides. Even Crewe could still be pulled into the mix as their next 2 games are both away at Mansfield & Luton followed by a home match against Morecambe. So in a nutshell, we shouldn't be relying on the other teams to lose, we should be going out to beat both Grimsby & Morecambe and then turn it on against Mansfield at home on the 14th. These next 11 days will probably decide our fate. On paper we should get the 14 points but there are no guarantees that we will beat any of the other struggling sides. Our best performances have been against Luton at home and Notts County home and away. Our away performances are the worse in the league so we have to live in hope that we can win at Grimsby, Morecambe, Forest Green & Barnet with Exeter sandwiched in between. With our home record, how many points can we pick up against Mansfield, Wycombe & Newport?

It's time that all fans need to put everything that is wrong with our club on hold and get behind Jack & his team with the vocal backing of the 12th man to make the difference like we have done for the past few weeks.

I'd be very surprised if 48 points will be required to keep out of the bottom two but it's possible of course.

While we can do the sums and the surmising I hope that Jack and the staff aren't even thinking about it. We aren't good enough to approach games tactically in the sense of targeting certain games as being more winnable/important.

Barnet can only get 48 points if they win all their remaining 5 games, Grimsby can only get 53 points if the win all their remaining 5 games. We have to play both of these and they have to play each other so for both of them to get maximum points is impossible.

My guess at this point is that second bottom will get 42/43 points.

That now might be the case if we win at Barnet ;)

What a pile of C**p we've witnessed since my post. 4 points out of the last 7 games says we deserve everything that's coming to us. PATHETIC return!! :angry :angry :angry

It certainly was an absolutely dreadful run of results.

The boardroom situation is the root cause of our situation but that shouldn't completely excuse some of the frankly awful on field performances. We deserve everything that has happened.
The greatest miscarriage of justice since my case against the producers of the Never Ending Story
