Anybody who thinks what is happening is part of a successful long term plan is wrong. Allen is in panic mode. This is pure guesswork but in my opinion the appointment of a CEO - something supporters know should have been done years ago, is a mechanism to a) give Carson a way out and b) find a buyer sharpish.

I'm inclined to go with this. Allen didn't want Wilson or Caldwell to fail. Caldwell is an affront to football managers. Truly , bottomlessly disgraceful judge of players.
Allan will, I feel, put the club up for sale again and take a decent bid. Would benefit us all.

But what do you class as a decent bid? He's turned down two offers on £10m - which is his money back, regardless of what he's taken back from loans or anything else.

Bottom of League 2 = less than £10m

I share your pain lads been from the north east ive seen manier good club ran into the deck. Mike ashley has lost a bit intrest in newcastle but im sure still does not want a relegation again as it would less demand from new buyers. Sunderland are ran even worse, hartlepool were badly ran for years but luckily its a council owned ground. Darlington, could write a book on them. Original Spennymoor town were wound up mid season and gateshead, my local non league club have had its ups and downs but thankfully owned by a fan now same as the boro with steve gibson

That's not a definitive figure. And £10m - your money back to walk away now - was actually extremely generous from both parties.

What value do you put on the club? What value do you think DA will sell for, based on what you feel?

The club will be valued on what the books say plus league postition.

As many suspect the books have probably been fiddled so at this moment in time the selling party would lose money. Should have sold when the more than sensible offer came in.

I think if a consortium came forward with £8million now then he would sell, otherwise the value is just going one way

The most likely scenario is a no questions asked agreement for a figure along those lines, plus a non disclosure clause over purchase price to save face.

A definitive figure is the amount someone is willing to pay for it. I'm not willing to pay anything for it so I can't give one.

So you think he'll sell for a decent figure, but you won't offer what you think to be a decent figure? Why not?

Strange that on another thread you ask a poster for minute details in response to their thoughts and yet you can't spitball anything here.

No way has anyone offered £10M , if they had DA would have snapped their hand off, we would be lucky to get £4M now and half that if we go down

Agreed, Dave Allen when all said and done will walk away from this club in the non league without it costing him a penny.
He's milked this club dry , The 5 million or so in transfer fees , interest every year, no wonder any potential investor that has showed interest haven't been able to see the full books, as he's filtering money away so it doesn't affect him personally. You know what part of me says I don't blame him , but part of me is so angry at the man who gave us so much hope yet kicked us where it hurts when we nearly got there.

This football club is about to die a very slow death

We 8 Mansfield oh we 8 Mansfield!!

Carsons ego gives me the impression that he would not like to relinquish the day to day running of the club

But I suppose if his lord and master orders him to hand over control to the new CEO then he will have no choice

After all what purpose does it serve to duplicate the CEO role because you can be sure the new one will not be on 10k a year

Oh I forgot Carson does not take a salary does he because he does the job out of the goodness of his heart

I'm sure another generous hand out of shares will more than massage his fragile ego.

The worry for me mate is would genuine well intentioned, genuine buyers accept that sort of agreement or would it be a case of out of the frying pan and into an even bigger fire?

The trouble with that at the moment is the shares would be worth about as much as myself winning 1 million pound on the lottery only to find out that another 999,999 people had won with the same numbers
