Last 7 words.....

Maybe propose a vast rent to a new Phoenix club that they can’t afford?

Eyesore of a crumbling stadium (happening already...) on the prime gateway to chesterfield or “go on then I’ll let you build some houses next to my lovely casino....”. ?

Rounding up, DA is almost an octogenarian. Do you really believe he has such ambitious long term plans?

I'd love to know whether his immediate family is included in his succession planning but if they are like the vast majority of beneficiaries worldwide, they'll accept 20p in the pound for a quick sale 'cos they don't give a monkey's about their dad's pride and joy.
Get it on, bang the gong , get it on

That's how I see it, and how it will pan out. Although I still envisage the stadium being separated from the football club, whether it's by the Allen family or their successors; unless some true fans can muster the funds to effect a purchase.

I think the reason the fans, as a whole, aren’t rising up in anger against DA is because, away from this board, no one is really aware. They just see a mismanaged club going down the pan and don’t understand what’s actually going on.
We really need a journalist to start digging - Graham at the DT would be a start - to establish exactly what is (or isn’t) happening.

Would you like to elaborate in less general terms- it's not clear what's going on , just conjecture.

But even that isn't a quality plan.
Ground rent couldn't be too high as there is zero demand from other customers.
The people of Chesterfield would boycott the hospitality.

I think you’re clever enough to join the dots, unless of course your motive is to have a BB member get a visit from Barry & Dwayne*

I don't see a plan. Just cause and effect.

I find it hard to believe we might be being used solely as Ozark FC (apologies for the Netflix reference), but if we are, then the O'Grady signing was a clumsy part of a smokescreen. A casino is surely a much more effective vehicle than a football club.

I'm not sure Allen has that much of a long term plan.

I'd also suggest that his beneficiaries won't simply be happy with 20p in the pound- why would anyone be?
These go to eleven.

O’Grady is another patsy. Even if we believe Carson’s claim he is the highest paid player EVER at the club, in telling people that - highly unprofessional at this level however you want to dress it up (he’s not Neymar, for heaven’s sake) - he instantly printed a bullseye on the back of his shirt - if he comes good then he’s a fan favourite and Carson takes the credit. If he fails then then it’s a case of ‘look over there!’ as the crowd turn on him and Carson (and Allen) has another temporary scapegoat.

I think we should have a welcoming party arranged for it.

As you say, it would never happen at CFC.

Ok, 20% might be an exaggeration. Why do house clearance companies do so well?

Because they take away the hassle and heartache of dealing with personal effects at a traumatic time.

The sale of a football club is a different matter, as is the sale of a house- who would just accept 20% of the value of a house that they had just inherited ?
These go to eleven.

Not a house (safe as?) is it? It's a business, a failing one at that, losing hundreds of thousands a year, and only worth what a willing purchaser is happy to pay for it.

A few opinions.

O'Grady is just another example of Allen's penchant for 'marquee' strikers.

The stadium footprint isn't worth the current debt let alone the four million share purchase.

It was gifted by a developer that I'm sure would have summat to say about Allen then profiting from the asset.

The area is designated as a football stadium in the local plan and it'd be hugely time consuming and expensive to change that.

It'd also be political suicide for any councillors rubber stamping Allen's wishes.

Non-matchday income has plummeted so separating football club from facilities wouldn't pay down the debt much quicker.

Infact it'd result in even more locals boycotting them.

So this owner's left with a virtually bankrupt business that's only gonna gather increasing debt.

There must be a very, very good reason why he doesn't just cut his losses and get out...
Never underestimate the stupidity of people

Fair point. I just hope Allen's successors are indeed keen to wash their hands of the club (and stadium!).

I suppose there's some Comfort in that (pun intended).

I think yours is probably true as well but any genuine buyer would balk at a stupid price, hence the £15m tag

When was it ever about it being a well-run business? A p!ss weak management structure made up of cronies who would fail to understand and challenge Dave's and Ashley's methods.

the 'house' is the Casino empire. The rotting 3 litre Jag in the garage is the football club.

Anybody who thinks what is happening is part of a successful long term plan is wrong. Allen is in panic mode. This is pure guesswork but in my opinion the appointment of a CEO - something supporters know should have been done years ago, is a mechanism to a) give Carson a way out and b) find a buyer sharpish.

Totally agree with you.
