Let's get it rate..women's football has been around for decades, especially in America, where it is extremely popular and has gained a lot of funding/advertising; the quality is still shiz! Of course, there are the extremely rare players that actually have talent, but in the main they are not worth the money they are paid.

Our lot are utter Bunkum! The reason Sampson got looked over three years ago is because we weren't third in the world and nobody gave a fk. Over the last three years, the game hasn't remotely exploded (like some thought it would), attendances are still pathetic, but stupid money has been thrown at it, over-inflating egos and creating greed.

Some black lass (who, imo, was and still is Bunkum; can't control a ball for toffee) throws the phrase 'racist connotation' around, and suddenly there's an investigation...coincidentally, at the same time as better forwards are brought into the team.

So...let me get this right. Sampson allegedly said something to a black player about being in prison..and that isn't taken as a joke, but as racial stereotyping? Sampson gets cleared of said offence but then gets booted because of something from three years ago that nobody cared about back then because nobody knew who the fk he was?

BONKERS!

Aluko takes 80k off the FA, so as to not disrupt the Euros...yeah, she must have genuinely been rate offended! I mean, come on! Justice over money, any day of the week; in my eyes, her credibility goes straight out of the window by taking the money.

Bruv - you used to be one of the voices of reason and intellect on this forum- what happened to you? Missus ran off with another woman?

You've not quite got it rate. The investigation into the alleged comments was reopened pre Sampson's sacking because the original investigation was deemed "flawed". Partly because it failed to interview a key witness. Bonkers. If the allegations are proven and he did make the comments then as ever opinion will be split between whether they are brilliantly funny jokes told by a very humorous man or racist.

I trust the guardian about as much as I trust the daily mail for balanced journalism.
Guess I picked the wrong week to quit sniffing glue!

comparing the womens game to the mens is stupid

you can enjoy watching the women play without having to compare it to a mens game, same as cricket

It's like comparing Real Madrid and Chesterfield.
Different expectations and skills on show but people still pay to watch

At least in the womens game they don't lie on the floor crying, trying to get opposition booked. They just get up , and get on with it.

So that's me 'n' thee backing Hope Powell for the Town gig, then...

If I were slightly more covinced of Hope Powell she'd be fine by me as Chesterfield manager ..... as it is I'd have a few doubts about her ability only. But I've more doubts about a lot of the male apparent front runners.

His apologists should ask themselves what Mark Sampson is doing in Women's Football? Didn't he get the grades for gynaecology? OOOH how dare I say that? But if a gay man were coaching only young boys almost everyone would be thinking and saying something very similar. (And before anyone tries to bludgeon that one to death I'm gay and that's the reason I've steered clear of coaching.)

Of course Eni Aluko and Jodie Spence are telling the truth. Sounds right innit?

Of course the manager of England Women should be a woman.

And yeah maybe the England team quite liked old Mark, specially if the racism didn't head their way. Footballers like winning.

Anybody out there remember when the FA handled anything well? So long as you're not on the FA's side you can get a win ratio GC would envy.

technically yes, as it is all funded by sponsorship deals, TV money, merchandise, attendences and various other stuff - the money going into the mans game is huge and drives the high wages

you could argue that even the relatively small wages in womens football are artificially inflated as money comes in from the male game via the FA and attendances, sponsorship, tv money etc are far far less for the womens game

simple capitalism

It's like the posts you see on facebook comparing Nurses wages to footballers, a nice concept but you'll not sell millions of TV subscriptions to watch nurses at work!

Very good point well made. It doesn't make it at all ethically right but it is so true what you say.

Good post though still morally wrong. TBH though I'd much sooner watch nurses at work than our lot at the minute  (think it's safe to post this with Warfey not around at the minute  )

Exactly. Just accept it for what it is. Do these people watch kids play football and complain that they don't play like Barcelona?
Life goes on. Whatever happens.

It's annoying 😃 it's not remotely interesting; no one actually cares (if they did, they'd get at least a couple of thousand in the stadium)...how has it made the news? Oh, yeah, 'cos they are continuing to shove it down our throats because we are being told we should be interested in it.

Ftr, I've never compared the male and female game; I think the standard of the female game is so bad it's unwatchable.

For good reason I don't go to the park to watch pub teams play, or attend none league stuff, which is about the same standard as the female game: shiz!
