I'd imagine we'll continue with behind closed doors friendlies where the need and opportunity arises, like we did against Northampton on Monday.

Presumably, its also another one of AC's cost-cutting measures.

Presumably we can play folk under any names we want to in friendlies as well! ;)

Given that for the second half of last season, there were a number of the first team squad who were fit but not selected for league games, who weren't then included in any mid-week reserve fixtures either.

I'd imagine we'll continue with behind closed doors friendlies where the need and opportunity arises, like we did against Northampton on Monday.

Presumably, its also another one of AC's cost-cutting measures.

You mean the club don't like people watching reserves for nowt, surely not.

It's been a long term case of 'Hokey-Cokey' regarding our ressies and an official league.

'We put the ressies in; took the ressies out; in-out-in-out 'til the cash ran out...'

My view, which seemed to be echoed by managers and the likes of Chris Turner when announcing one of the 'in' seasons, is such fixtures are an important bridge between youth games or practice matches and league football.

Infact driving the bus to away games could be a job for that son in law of Allen's who's on the payroll yet has no official position...

Short-Sighted view IMO. How does the club think that Rowley and Wakefield were ready to play in the first team? Footballers need to play games, not some half-bothered "bounce" match. Get them in a league and make it competitive.

Having watched reserve games on and off over the last two seasons a similar pattern emerged. For the first half of the season the games were competitive with fairly strong teams but after Christmas teams got weaker with few non playing squad players taking part. The same went for the opposition, so perhaps they aren't such good value. Don't know whether it is a cost cutting exercise or perhaps it is just the managers preference. Cook just organised games as and when

The bridge didn't open until 4 years AFTER the game, so did your Carpi have wings or did you go the long route home again??
