I remember going to ?Joplin's (by the precinct entrance) in the early 90s and there was a downstairs IIRC that a rave was happening in, which me and my mate Rich went to - it was proper crap.

My favourite local was the white hart on matlock road which is long gone as is the 3 horse shoes at Spitewinter. I remember a lot of the pubs in town now long gone with fondness. Makes you feel old.

Mid\Late 90s the White Hart was one of our regulars partly due to the fact it was owned and run by the same folk as the Terminus at the time so we'd sometimes go over especially for the Quiz.

When I was a regular there it was run by a husband and wife team (Norman and Anne) with his brother - who's name escapes me. I used to be part of the quiz team there until I joined the Navy in 92. Good crowd in there, very fond memories.

IIRC Norman and Anne left the White Hart to run a restaurant in Matlock.

Not a pub but the old sweet shop on Brampton next to Kennings used to be great. Wag school, play snooker at the Brad, nip to the sweet shop then home in time for the arrival of the school bus.

The Cribs are playing a small acoustic set at Tallbird Records this Thursday. Limited (for obvious reasons) to 30 people, and even that seems a lot for the shop.

I didn't know they were playing too. Saw they were signing copies of their new album (which I'd quite like anyway). If they keep the doors open I can stand in the street and listen!

I can take or leave them but seeing as theyre on in town itd be rude not to. on their website its the only uk date as well which may add to the number of attendees.

hope its a goer then they may try more stuff away from the tired mod/Britpop stuff.

Ha ha took the words out of my mouth. Not diehard fan but seen singer in his old band dubwar, hes a good showman took me back to my youth when i loved nu metal and if its well supported may be a platform for more heavy rock. Uk rock bands doing similiar sized places like magnum, thunder, the cult, saxon etc would go down a bomb

If they are concerned about health and safety there maybe a visit to sevens on town is needed. The toilets there are a disgrace nearly slipped over several times due to wet floor. Similiar in a few other late night places

State of bogs in town in everywhere but wetherspoons is a farce

I don't think what I just said is grammatically correct
