and I can see in patches the sort of football he is trying to create at Town.
I've seen in passages of play some nice passing, movement and attempts on goal. On the flip side, I've seen some awful midfield play and defensive suicide. BUT I SEE THE POSITIVES with the bits of good stuff.
Now, the transfer window. I think he has identified that defensively, we should not be shipping in that amount if goals. He has brought in some defenders which look good. The lad from Shrews, albeit not played for them, has Scottish league experience and in his own words is quick and aggressive.
The lad who is ex Fulham looks like he is a Binnon Williams type, so should have pace prob playing LWB.
I read on another thread that its possible to then move Hird into midfield (cover a position which needed attention). He played there for Doncaster I think.
And then we have some tricky feet with Diego. Maybe the ruthless finisher we probably need as Dennis can't do it all by himself.
Flores looked the business when I saw him. A quality player.
Thing is, you HAVE to give a manager time. Sometimes its glaring obvious (Dean Saunders) that a manager had to go. But with GC I can see its not far off. I've said before, when it clicks on the pitch, we will climb the table. I think he has added quality and competition for places so I expect an upturn in fortune on the pitch.

3 wins in 26 is it? Admittedly, not all with his own team. How much longer do you give him?

Imo he's got 6 games left and we need 12 points from them games - if less, he should go.
Coventry H
Crewe A
Colchester A
Stanley H
Luton A
Yeovil H
Come end of September anything lass than 18 points is not good enough.

It's alright mentioning what you believe are the positives but you've not touched on our manager signing four central midfielders and none of them particularly impressing so far, leaving central midfield our most troubled area (in most fans minds).

Caldwell's record is far, far worse than Saunders'.

And he's never endeared himself to us fans. Surely when you become a manager at a new club the priority should be get the fans on side and then take it from there.
He should have learnt from Saunders and done the opposite. When questioned D S would always answer the question of " well Dean your only 3 points of a relegation place "
with " yes but we're only 10 points off a ply off place " !

Allow me to retort..
1. Tactically naive and stubborn to boot
2. Hugely unbalanced squad
3. No wide players
4. Awful central midfield - worst I've seen in 25 years
5. Generally poor record in transfer market
6. Players do not appear as if they particularly want to win for him.

You've not been very often then. I wouldn't have either Gardner or Nolan back.

Well here's a question: does allowing Caldwell to sign so many players mean Carson's standing by him? Or is it just a last, desperate attempt to prop-up a manager who'll cost another huge amount to sack.
I'd say anything but four points from the next two should see a change.

Which raises another question: is it beyond question senior pro's might want him out?

Win any of the next two and he won't be sacked - Just yet.

Majority of the squad signed for him, so I hope not. Would you sign for a manager, then want him out the next day.
PS. How many of the current squad are players he's signed or extended contracts etc.

We've got him for the season. Unless we're in the mire by January. And rightly so in my opinion. We can't afford to get rid, GC has assembled a squad of players to play a certain way, whether or not he was a great choice is largely irrelevant now (barring disaster.
I can see what he's trying to do, I'm not sure L2 is the place to do it, but we're on for the ride. We can't afford to keep sacking managers/staff/paying players to leave.

You'd want him gone if he got 3 wins, 2 draws and a loss from those fixtures?
That's a tough little run of games. I think anything over 6 points and you'll have done well.

We're in a situation now where we need to start picking up results to keep fans happy, which is obviously piling more pressure onto players still getting used to each other. It's also difficult getting rid of that losing mentality surrounding the club.
For me, GC has brought in some promising players from what I have seen so far. What worries me though is his tactics as everyone else has stated, but even more so his obvious confusion in who his best starting 11 is. Fair play sticking with a 5-3-2 formation or whatever he prefers, but we're never going to get consistency from a weekly reshuffle of players. Wiseman, Hird and Evo - despite what many think on here - are 3 top class defenders at this level. However, so far even I will agree they have been made to look like a shambles at times in the opening games.
It's never easy however to combine possibly 4 different formations, swapping between keepers, and also a regular reshuffle of fullbacks and midfielders in from of them.
I understand peoples concerns about being bottom, and from the results alone we've had a shocker so far. But players wise we have plenty in the locker, I just hope GC now starts to get a settled first 11 and focuses on getting them playing well as a team.

I am an active critic of Caldwell, but you have to think that's all he's been told we can afford. Maybe it comes off, but it's going to be some turnaround if these players form the basis of a winning run.
It's my club, so I hope something positive can happen tomorrow, with or without the new signings (bearing in mind their likely level of fitness). But it's only hope I carry, not conviction.

Too many people with head in sand not seeing the bigger picture. Would be a disaster to keep caldwell with this record, as we will be in another relegation dogfight, this time with a lot more importance than ones we've previously faced
