I wouldn't be surprised if he signs for Wigan then gets loaned out straight away.
Sound familiar?

I don't see him back at Wigan for at least five reasons..

1) Cookie will have better already.
2) Roberts best years are long behind him.
3) Cook got slated at Pompey for signing all his old players, which never really worked out and you'd have thought he'd have learnt something from this.
4) Robo probably isn't up to league one level these days.
5) Sadly, Cook's aspirations will now be way above the Gary Roberts of today.

I could probably give a lot more than five why I don't think he'll end up at town either

You need to explain that to me. Why would Wigan bother to sign him and then immediately loan him out?

Jamie Devitt.
Didn't he initially sign a 6mth contract before resigning for us in January then got loaned out straight away to Morecombe?

No move on we had best years out of him I think .plus don't think we could afford is wages. I don't think there be any new players unless someone leaves in any case.although I do think we must have saved money with about 20 players leaving and only 11 coming in. but don't think we will find out the true figures?

Don't believe the explanation given relating to fair play rules. Would that mean we also couldn't sign any one in January unless someone left?

If we accept the explanation, then we couldn't sign anyone else until someone leaves.

One way other clubs get around the rules in the lower leagues is owners converting loans to share capital. Ain't going to happen here is it?

No it ain't. But I dont accept the explanation. And if it's one in, one out and no one leaves it doesn't bode well for the season. It's obvious Caldwell needs a LWB and imo another CM.

I would love Gary Roberts to come here , even if he came on at half time to give us a much needed boost. However we cannot afford it unless someone goes out, also he was not the best at training and got a lot of leeway from Paul Cook. I can't see GC letting him out of training sessions so he would not be attracted by our club anyway.
ps. If Mansfield are thinking of getting him then they need to be prepared that these days he is unlikely to do the full 90 mins.

Interesting in that his stats at Town and Portsmouth are almost identical.
74 games for each and 17 goals.

Very talented player- a key cog in any hardworking league 3 side.

The fact he is perceived not to be able to complete 90 minutes for a league 2 side at 33 is probably a telling fact about his attitude to training perhaps?
