So Who's This Then?

Some fans will just never be content. Some want us to sign a gem from non-league, well we have brought in Gozie Ugwu who got 17 goals in a bang average side in the conference.
Some want a proven, football league striker and we are linked with O'Grady who has always played well against us.
If the strikers at the club are Dennis, Ugwu, O'Grady and German come the first game of the season then I will be ecstatic with that.

From what I gather the club haven't had him in and nailed a deal, he has gone away to consider it. So nothing may come of it and then, judging by the reaction on here, fans will be disappointed- especially if he joins for e.g. Mansfield! Better not to have mentioned anything about this until a deal was done. Obviously better to have done the deal when they had him in. Ok AC wants to show the club are trying to sign players but If they don't sign it's a bit of a pointless publicity exercise, creating disappointment and probably criticism of the club for failing.

That's his game. Strong as an Ox and won't get bullied. Always been impressed when I've seen him. Only question would be how far has he declined, but at 31 League 2 shouldn't be a problem. Good signing potentially.

Lee Sinnott, if it is him, may be able to do it but I would still love to see a Dan Archer type of player in the side. For the young one's he was the play maker in the 69/70 promotion side
Agree with this.
A midfield hub has been top priority since Wilson joined the club never mind Caldwell, painfully so since Morsy left.
Sinnott may well strengthen us in midfield but from what I have read about him on Halifax forum he has more creativity than bite. We would still need some muscle and tenacity and authority.

Not seen many/any posts that wouldn't be happy with O'Grady? Personally I'd be amazed if we get him. We don't even know it is him

Chris O'Grady & #chesterfieldfc talk true. Has other offers but plenty in #spireites favour, I'm told. A case of wait and see...

Saw something yesterday suggesting him and Simons signing was a formality. Cant remember who tweeted it now mind you.
**Edit...it was Graham from the DT :-

For Halifax, from what I have seen, Sinnott takes every dead ball kick, every corner - from left and right. His delivery was excellent. In that respect at least he is very similar to Dan Archer. In addition he has a tremendous long throw and anything in the last quarter, left and right, he threw it into the box. This was from watching about 45 minutes of semi-final and final play-off games. The attributes I mention are easily reproducible at League 2 level without doubt. Time will tell about other aspects - he can pick a pass but will have less time ; he didn't look particularly dynamic from the bits I saw (neither was Dan) ; the highlights didn't show much to base his defensive qualities on. He was involved in most of the best offensive play of Halifax and attacking play is what highlights concentrate on so his all round game was difficult to form an opinion on
For those who remember Dan then, a very similar style I would say - the caveat being, until we've seen him more, at 2 leagues lower.

Dead-ball situations are very important in today's game. Having someone who can make a throw-in as dangerous as a free-kick can be very useful. The attributes you describe have been missing from our game for some time and could add an extra dimension to our game.
Similarly, it seems GC is trying to increase the average height of the team with his signings to date and those currently being suggested.
