Apparently 66.6% of clubs have voted to keep it basically as is with a few changes mainly being they've reduced the restrictions as to what players clubs like us can pick and they've upped the prize money!

http://www.efl.com/n...medium=referral

Key changes :-
- EFL team selection criteria amended to allow increased flexibility for League One and League Two clubs
- An increase in the total competition fund to £3million
- Each group will continue to contain one invited Under-21 team with the remainder made up of EFL clubs from either League One or League Two. Groups will be formed to minimise overall travel time for EFL clubs and fans
- Invited Under-21 teams will play their Group games away from home
- Regionalisation until the Quarter-Final stage (improved from Round Two in 2016/17) to minimise overall travel time for clubs and fans
- Flexibility of fixture dates to allow teams to schedule games outside of international weeks
- As part of the proposals, the selection criteria for invited Under-21 teams will remain as ‘six players from the starting 11 must be under the age of 21 as at 30 June 2017.’

I'll be erasing those games from my calendar, AGAIN
Accentuate th Positive, eliminate the negative

Just goes to show how much fans opinions matter to greedy chairmen, compared to prize money.
Needs a TOTAL boycott next year.
Apparently it's not just the old d'kheads at the FA and League that are ruining football. It's chairmen of League clubs too.

Gobsmacked. Is this April 1st? Games played in almost empty stadiums due to massive fans' boycott and they vote to continue the trophy in its current hated format. Clearly the clubs have NOT listened to their fans. Arrogance or what? I suspect fans will be even more angry and the boycott will continue with doubled efforts.

Shame on those managers, like Robins, suddenly coming out in favour and doing the Premier league/EFL's bidding.

Chesterfield director and company secretary Ashley Carson said: “We voted to revert back to the original format of the competition, so we are naturally disappointed with the outcome.

"However, the amount of home-grown players used in the competition can’t be ignored and this is very encouraging.

"The prize money at each round is very generous and now that we know the result of the vote, we will be taking the competition seriously next season.”

I saw Chelsea U21 v Oxford in an eerily empty Stamford Bridge last season. It was very odd. Ticked another ground off the list though and was only a fiver to get in.

Question for AC at the next fans' meeting, whenever that might be.

Is it true CFC had to be reminded at the last minute by someone clearly more clued-up to vote on this issue?

To count towards 'The 92' it has to be a first team fixture?

It was Oxford's first team (or supposed to be). I'm counting it (and there's a record on doingthe92 so someone else has as well!).

So many different rules depending on how much of an anorak you are. Some won't count Wembley as a tick until they have seen Spurs there next season for example, some won't conside their new ground 'new' as it's on the site of the old one etc. Some can't count forest green as a tick as they saw them in the conference and not the FL..

Me, if I've seen a game on the ground involving the first team/national team it's a tick

Yep mate I'm the same if I've seen a game there it counts. Actually counted Maine road for seeing Queen there in 1986 before I saw us there when they were in div3

Not for the home team it wasn't, U21 only. It'd be interesting to see what the 'rules' of The 92 club are regarding the EFL Trophy for the U21 'elite' sides.

DA might leave something for you, but I doubt it'd be cash in an envelope......

Our vote had been made public a week or two before the decision. We voted keep it but with no u21 sides. I follow the B Team Boycott twitter page, they released it.

I'm unlikely to ever make it to all 92 anyway - I've stalled in the mid 50s - so for my purposes it can count.
