Ballance has to go

Do not know why he was brought back in the first place

Yep, not like he finished the season with Yorkshire in blistering form.

Shameful campaign against Cook by these pundits. It wasn't the captain who performed so poorly in the last two test matches. His dodgy decision making was most likely driven by the hopeless spinners and lopsided team selections

The other thing I think is a disgrace is England's selection policy which is driven by these same pundits. After the 3rd test all I heard was 3/3 is the wrong balance and that 4/2 was better with the odd one calling for an extra batsman.

Only today did I here some say the real issue is not enough specialist batsman and too many dashing allrounders. Fine when things are going great but very little security when the scales are balanced the wrong way.

Oh well we'll probably do well against SA and definitely well against the WI on green tops is summer and Root will be the saviour if they manage to drive Cook out the captaincy

I'm in the cook should stay side of things. As you say team selection has let him down as they tried to shuffle the fact our spin options are pants. I see the next great hope has been found to have a dodgy action now hence not getting picked as well. Bell was dumped to soon as well.

Nothing to gain from rushing root into the job putting even more pressure on him on top of his batting. Also not the first or last side to struggle in India like India do outside their home conditions. We don't go to these sorts of places for a while again now so we'll be fine with our usual make up and get ready for an ashes series.

That would have been considered the tail wagging if that were Derbyshire.

I was think the same, but we probably would have taken 35 balls

About time someone started a Derbyshire CCC 2017 thread

Derbyshire started their 2017 season with a 7wkt defeat to the local Staffordshire league in a 40 over friendly last saturday

Last season we won every friendly preseason I think and then did nothing when the real action started so hopefully opposite way round this season lol

DCCL season up and running this weekend.....we got off to a good start with a fairly comfortable win against a side promoted from 5N last year. I even managed to get through 13 overs having only bowled once since last season including a 10 over spell first up!! Glad the weather wasnt like today!!

Whitt Moor Wanderers were a Sunday League football team late 80s early 90s. Evo wouldn't have got into that side!!!!
He probably played for Whittington Wanderers with there being a Pete Whiteley connection.

Nope me neither, played with Paul Lemon in years gone by and against Tom Curtis both of whom were very good cricketers. Think Jamie Hewitt played for someone as well whilst we know Chris Marples had plenty of local cricket connections. Do we know of any others?

Sorry..yeh got the name wrong. There was a Whitt Moor Wanderers side for a while after chesterfield cylinders had to pack up when they lost the ground. Few of them kept going on the, poor, pitch that was at stand rd years back. Think I'd just got that in my head...think they eventually merged with Whittington hence the wanderers bit in their name.

Hewitt played a bit for Sheepbridge. My brother hit David Reeves into the horse field and he wasn't very happy at all. I recall getting Dave Waller out in a midweek game a few years ago.

We had a 20 over thrash against a town XI including Ern. P Walker. Andy Kowalski.Les Hunter, remember a lad called Andy Higgins and especially Colin Profett being very handy.
