Carson said interest had been received from an Australian bidder who'd provided proof of funding and had asked - them not CFC - for a non disclosure agreement. He also said everything had been passed to Shorts for verification. All that was around two or so weeks ago and nowt'd been heard since.
Things got a bit strange then, as when AC said the proof of funding was for ten million someone asked: 'Pounds or dollars?'.
'Dollars' replied Carson.
'American or Australian?' the question came back.
'Errr, American' responded Allen's man.
Now I'm not sure why an Aussie company would quote American dollars but even that reduces the owner's asking price by around two and a half million given exchange rate differences. Infact it almost halves in Aussie dollars. Oh, and let's not forget an Australian outfit with whom Dennis Bingham and Maurice Pagniello were associated supplied players to the CFCFDS. Let's also remember Bingham has been pictured alongside another young man who arrived at CFCFDS last September - a time after he'd supposedly been ostracised and when Carson was still protesting Turner and Sutcliffe's legitimacy.
Perhaps I'm adding two plus two plus two and getting a cheese sandwich, here. Let's also be clear that AC categorically stated Bingham wasn't involved with the bid. I guess that as always it's up to 'Bob's Board' members to decide whose word to trust.
Summat else, too.
Carson was pressed about his 'Former Boardmembers left when the going got tough' comments on Radio Sheffield the previous evening. He accepted it wasn't the right thing to say - though fell well short of a retraction or apology - before claiming it was the result of frustration and workload (I paraphrase slightly, there). He portrayed himself as something of a victim, inheriting a mess not of his making then receiving all the grief and blame when there'd been eight individuals around the Boardroom table who should share some of the responsibility.
At that point he was reminded he'd been at the Club from day one of Allen's tenure whilst those he'd derided had been marginalised after his former Hillsborough colleague had became Chairman.
The fact Allen had also 'left when the going got tough' remained moot.
I think you are adding 2 and 2 and getting sandwich
Perhaps Carson has already factored in the conversion rate or more likely it was lingual slippage. Carson contradicts himself and is as ambiguous as Turner ever was
