its been open 3mths now, the time for creating a buzz about the place has sadly passed.
in those 3mths the gigs of note have been:
bez dj'ing(a bloke famous for playing the maracas & dancing)
2 blokes off 'this is england' dj'ing
tom hingley with his inspiral carpets tribute act.
& coming up you have
Neville staples & the 'biggest' name up to yet.... dodgy

I cant see it being open at xmas.

I was out in town at weekend and im amazed at amount of folk that dont know place exists. When shed 7 announced more dates i expected them to be booked here. Would boost profile or maybe someone like the darkness or the growing classic rock band market, saxon, thunder? Lots of potential with nightclub. What else is there, association which is size of a pub or grab a granny place beach bar and grove

I'm guessing he means the clone roses???

Must do. To be honest some of these pro tributes to stadium acts can pull in more than forgotton original bands

plenty of high(ish) profile bands out there that do one offs esp now festival season is approaching.
if they can book a few of them & get the folk of town used to the idea they'll have to pay more than £10 for a band & we could have a going concern.

got tickets to see echo & bunnymen & also the wonder stuff in next few wks theyre kinda bands thatd kick start it as a live venue.
leftfield suggestion soul 2 soul. always doing one offs.

Theres them 80s package tours doing big business too likes of paul young, heaven 17, toyah, t'pau etc. The diamond live lounge at doncaster is new too and they've had some canny gigs on very varied. If tickets were say 20 quid folk would pay if for right act. Its not alot for gigs these days

£20 isn't a lot, I think £20-25 is the going rate.
its just the majority of townfolk probably have to get over the mindset of £10 max for bands.

Ive only lived here a year so not sure what folk have been willing to cough up in past. Has there been many major touring acts on in town over years?

no & that's the problem. townfolk by & large will spend real time prices & no more.

Clone Roses were £12 in advance, and £15 on the door last weekend at Sheff Arena.

We are going to see Jeff Lynne's ELO in June...I think we 'saved' more than the advance price of a Clone Roses tickets by buying our tickets at the box office instead of online!

What is it with these ageing major artists expecting us to open a vein!

I dont mind elo but tickets are extortion and what puts me off at those gigs is fsct its all seating in a huge arena/stadium. Arena floor seats are crap and unless you pay a premium you cant get near front. I like a gig where you pay your money and can stand where ever. Older the act seems to mean much higher ticket prices. Mind still value to be had at independant venues like the plug, rock city and corporation and even real time live

Dont bank on it. Surely a town this size csn sustain one nightclub. Nearet other sort of places to nightclubs are likes of so, association and grab a granny beach bar so hardly strong competition. Yet when i was in saturday aroubd 12:30ish must have been a couple of dozen in. Not sure about crowd for band. Do folk realise this is a club as well as a band place?

Folk dont really do nightclubs now that bars can stay open til late. Back in the day nightclubs were the only place to go once pubs packed up at 11pm but thats changed now and nightclubs sort of went with them. This place is potentially more a live music venue then a nightclub anyway.

I hear what you saying but still a place for nightclubs. Likes of plug, leadmill and corporation in sheffield continue as a nightclub every week once bands finishm some folk arrive after bands some stsy right way througth but they have a gimminck i.e. different themes each night with drinks offers. The avenue offers a far better late night drinking environment than that beach bar which is minging inside with some birds past pensioner age, honest.

Probably will seem to have a cult following locally and they sold out real time live
