Haha wow it doesn't take much to get you onside eh

I welcomed the appointment of GC. A up and come young British manager.
Unfortunately, our club has been severly damaged from all sides and I knew it wouldn't be instant success on the pitch (admit I thought it be a couple more wins) but Conte couldn't have got us out the mire.
For Christ sakes, we didn't even have a scouting network!

Given his 6 signings so far, which ones give you such a positive feeling?

The 5 youngsters currently no where near our first team squad or the 36 year old keeper?

The experienced keeper defo. Should get a contract for next season.
I have a feeling it's was with others influence with the loanees plus the fact there was F all in the coffers. A case of grab what you can afford and , with the lack of a scouting network, a gamble which didn't pay off.

To be fair Jon, we've sold better players for a combined income of millions and still not seen the debt reduce. If we're selling young prospects, the initial fee will be low, there may be a reasonable sell-on, but we must insist on regular 'milestone' payments to keep a steady trickle of money coming in.

Why would you "grab what you could afford" if you've not seen them play? You've just added a greater cost to the wage bill on a group of players who aren't proven quality at this level, and increased the debt more.

If you go further with your own analogy, would you like to buy a car I have over here? You have to pay for it before you get to see it, let alone drive it. If that's not your cup of tea, then I have some magic Swedish beans you might be interested in...

We still don't have a scouting network. We have appointed a bloke who watches plenty of games, but has a track record in getting poor players signed and then paid up because they're that bad. I'd temper your ambition with what this fella brings in terms of a list of names to the gaffer.

Caldwell's man-management skills might be suited to young players who dare not cross the line and to further their prospects of playing as often as possible, but as we've seen with Dan Jones, you can become a piece of trash in the eyes of the manager very quickly. Is Branston's task to find players who will say "yes, boss" every time or get us promoted at the first attempt?

No mention of "Spireite legend" (copyright Ashley Carson) Evans?

No we are paying his wages rather than his hero worshiping father in law - he hasn't shown much of a fight for a relegation battle.

That'll learn you Ashley

Well four-plus million in sales has only seen the debt grow.

From GC interview, he says youth will get a chance (basically the poler opposite of Dean Saunders). He sounded committed to doing this but also acknowledged that by doing this, they put themselves in the shop window. Now, I'm no mind reader, but I got the impression that GC will want to keep the talented for obvious reasons. I think he will be in a position where his word will have some meaning (unlike the Wilson / Turner relationship).
Yes we are a selling club, we have to be at the moment. But I feel with GC in charge, with the final say of who comes in off Branston's list of available players, I think our club can take massive strides forward.
I'm talking promotion, a hot bed where young players can thrive (either for a contract or profit), good football and a sellable club. The signs have already started to show, at least,of a footballing turnaround.

This is a wind-up...yeah?

I'd keep:
Lee, Stuckmann, Jones, Evatt, Hird, Maguire, McGinn, EL Fitouri, Mitchell, Nolan, Gardner, Rowley, Dennis, Ched, and German and offer Humphreys a coaching role.

Release / sell the rest.

I don't think it added cost to the wage bill, we removed JOS, Liddle and O'Neil (fairly big earners??).

As for the loanees, I think GC might have been told of some possible players, and what cash was available. May be Wilson or Turner knew of these players ( or possibly recommend by their agents to Wilson or Turner??) and passed on to GC thinking he was getting top information ( Turner being eventually removed from his position after meetings with AC and GC). It was a gamble from GC and it didn't pay off.

Branston I'm sure said he has his contacts up and down the country who he wants to add under CFC wing to create his scouting network. Time will tell what kind of quality Branston offers up but ultimately, Calwall will have the final say.

As for the car, no thanks, but I'll pop those beans in the greenhouse ;-)

For what reasons would you keep El Fitouri?

He looks like a promising player, hes young, he'll be on a small wage and he can provide an attacking threat from right back which we haven't had since Darikwa left.

Surely he fits your criteria of a young one not on extortionate wages?

I can only presume he's on such a small wage that Caldwell has lost him down the back of the sofa. He certainly seems to have forgotten he exists.

He clearly doesn't fit any of Caldwell's criteria

The Peak commentator asked a couple of games ago and was told he's trainiing well and available

He's young and he's on a small wage, god the standard metre is getting set real high for players at this club no wonder we are doing so well.

Sounds like your start-of-the-season hero is turning into the best schoolyard player amongst kids much smaller than him.

Prosumably, you've seen him play for more than 45 minutes, or so, then?

Apart from the 3 kids from the youth team who have just been offered contracts (possibly £15k ish pa) all our other youngsters have had more league experience than El Fitouri. As such, I am more for giving low-cost (£20-£25k pa) contracts to them.

If he hasn't been able to get on the bench whilst the team have performed so poorly following his debut then he is clearly not in GC's plans.
