I dare say it's wether we can fit him into next year's budget.
Personally, I like him. He's a bit of a character. But I'm assuming he is a big earner.
On a side note, I thought Dan Gardener had a good game again. I'd defo like to see him offered a contract here.
Rai Simons can do one tho. What an absolute woeful effort.

He got a few decent crosses in today but was poor in the first half defensively.
I think he will have to take quite a cut in wages if he wants to be here next season but, personally, I think GC won't offer him a contract.

If Jones has reputed to have said that he does not think GC likes him then the fact that he is here or not next season might still be open to question

Until Jo got the winner, Dan was motm by a long chalk. I would rather have seen Beesley come on in front of Simmons, him and Jo would have linked well together.

Caldwell hasn't seen much of Jones, not in a Chesterfield shirt anyway.
He came back into the squad with less than weeks training after being injured for what was essentially a year and admittedly didn't look too good. To me that shows the desire Caldwell bangs on about and he should think carefully about binning him off

Agree but you wouldn't put it past Caldwell to do just that

Simmons on the ball and running at teams is good to watch, such a strong powerful runner, without the ball he is a complete waste of space doesn't chase down or attempt to challenge for it.... so for that reason get rid.

I still think Simons is worth persevering with. He had a very good run at pace into the heart of their defence - yes, he tried to get a shot away rather than feed Rowley but I want to see strikers take on the responsibility of shooting and certainly Rai needs a goal. He was asked to play deeper than normal and he did very well defending corners in the final couple of minutes.
Gardner has certainly played more consistently under Caldwell and been given different roles in the team. On the right wage I would not be adverse to giving him another contract. We need a squad for next season not just a team.

Gardner has been the only player to improve under Caldwell

That's how I see him. It's almost as if he is saying, when it comes to defending and winning the ball back, ''not my job''.

Dennis was my MoM but young Joe is certainly enjoying himself at present.
Just hope he doesn't get his head turned. He really needs to get some real experience rather than splinters in his backside like so many young players that move on too soon. If he can carry on from where he has started he wil attract a lot of attention and, when the time is right, probably a choice of clubs.
