I don't think anyone's having a go at the manager or players, Dave.

He, like his predecessor, could only work with the finances delivered by our dynamic duo.

Which meant a collection of largely inexperienced youngsters rather than the proven talent required.

Which in turn meant toothless performances rather than any improvement.

Punters can't be blamed for turning their backs as a result.

The problem with that is that we don't have a whole season left to gradually improve over. Our chances are rapidly running out, and the manager needs to hammer a sense of urgency into the players. Yes we have a lot of kids - I've often bemoaned that fact myself, BUT they aren't 15 year old schoolboys. They are all actual professionals, and the least you are entitled to expect is that they put maximum effort into what they are paid to do. I do not think many of our players are doing that; just look at the amateurish goals we are conceding by failing to bother to close down crosses and simply not marking attackers in our own 6 yard box. I'm not talking about experience or supreme levels of skill - I'm talking about what you're taught to do when you're a 9 - year old in a school team. It's an absolute disgrace that our players fail to put enough effort in to do the basics, and its the managers job to get that message across in no uncertain terms and make sure they do it.

One of the most glaring short comings in the squad is height imo, since Banks and Liddle have gone we are back to a team of midgets, I know the rhubard season is nearly upon us but it's a bit late to be putting players under a bucket to increase their growth rate (performaance).
