Just watched goals of the week on Soccer AM.
Ameobi given time and space on edge cutting in off wing and fire a heat seeker into the top corner.
Now, they aren't a one man show - Clough, Stirling to name two off top of my head who are quality but if we are going to get anything out this game today, we have to be closing down, keeping tight and hard in the tackle. Everyone player has got be on their A+ Gold Star game today.
Basically, do everything we don't do in games!
I'd be happy if they give it a go and end up losing than play week and have our bottoms spanked. Cos we will get spanked if we play poorly.

Closing Down - Something we never do. We seem to just let the opposition just have all the time they want on the ball, especially in their half. I really don't mind losing, just as long as the players give it their all. If we get beat by the better side, thats fine. It's the lack of effort that does me.

With the quality of players that have, give them time and space they will create a hell of a lot of chances. Wether a through ball or smash an effort from edge of area or load the box and play it in from wide......
God I'm fearing for us today

Thought Dion o'D had him in his pocket in the first half,
Only time Ameobi won anything was a few headers from throw ins, other than that, nothing.

He was the only one who caused a few problems down the right first half, twisting and turning, getting a few balls across the box.

Unless I missed it was he ever dispossessed? Thought for a big man he was very agile. I would have him in our team in a flash

I agree I thought he was there best player and very dangerous, on the other hand did Spearing ACTUALLY play for Liverpool! Apart from one good pass towards the kop 1st half I didn't rate him.

Interestingly or perhaps not, Connor Wilkinson spent some time in that position for the stiffs last Tuesday with some success. He has the same attributes and could perhaps do a job there if Danny wants a 4-2-3-1 with just Ched playing up front. Depends how good his tracking back is.

No, I don't think so. Imo he was their best player, especially first half, and was the only one causing us a problem in what was a poor Bolton.

Bolton weren't poor, they aren't 3rd in the league for no reason, but yesterday tahn put in the performance of the season keeping it tight in midfield and defence, denied em space, closed em down quickly and got back into position quickly after an attack, when they did spring the offside young allinson held his nerve and made a fine schmiecel esque save, all in all the best we've played all season and a very deserved win against a tough team.

Totally deserved and a good performance by all. I just thought they were poor. Maybe that's because I was expecting a lot lot more from them, even with the way we performed etc.

Ameobi was involved I all their play. Give Town players the credit they deserve for a brilliant all round team effort, Bolton are no mugs.

Bolton are a good, good side with lots of quality in there ranks. Ameobi is a very skilfull player and for a big lad he has the capabilities to cause some real headaches for any defence, something that Gboly should aspire to be rather than just getting over the halfway line and playing for a foul. To be fair, all the Bolton team with the exception of one or two were a big bunch, like I've said on another thread they're not as good as Scunny or Sheffield Utd but non the less they're too good for this league.
Life goes on. Whatever happens.

The best teams will struggle against quick closing down, especially when there's two or three biting their legs, as often happened. The big difference was everybody keeping their concentration all game and not just standing watching, as we've seen too often.
Evo got my MoM - exemplified the new approach. He was going for everything, and doing it as if his life depended on it.
And as a bonus, they all kept going flat out until the final whistle without any subs, which puts to bed the theories of poor fitness.

Swallow hard and take it on the chin, rather than saying they all kept going, give a special mention to Sam Hird, he made the difference for the defence. Evvo and Anderson did well but a large part of that was how easy Hird made it for them

+ H has often made the point about how Morsy and Ryan screened the CBs in Cook's team so this should be clear to him. I'm sure he'll big up Hird shortly.

I don't know why but I had a nagging doubt you wouldn't have given your MoM to Sam Hird.
