Why do you say that? He's got the coaching badges, played at the highest level and won the biggest club competition. Great football player, I see no reason why he couldn't make a good manager. Far from the worst appointment I'm sure.

And he's got the personality of a dead squid. He'll never make a decent manager as long as I live imo. Having said all that as Merc says, IF he wants to buy a football club, be the manager and even player (as well as CEO) I'd welcome him with open arms and tell him he'll be the best manager that ever lived

He hasn't managed anywhere else so you can't base any argument on him being unsuccessfull.

True, I'm basing it on character/ personality. To me he hasn't got it to be successful in management. He hasn't got the right tone to his voice, the right umph, and comes across as dour and miserable. Apart from that he'd spit in the players faces every time he talked to them being a scouser (joking on the last bit, before I get shot down). Players need something to respond to, how can Stevie G inspire a side that's not performing? Listen to his half time team talk and you'd be half asleep for the second half

Time will tell, though if we wasn't in such a mess I wouldn't want us to touch him with a barge pole (though he has money, lots of it and all a sudden I'm interested

EDIT: I wish Cookie was still here, he maybe about to tempt him to buy a football club

BTW, He was another DA victim who the fans backed DA on and turned against PC. Got to admire how DA does it tbf!

No offence matey, but to claim he won't make it in football management because he hasn't got the right tone in his voice is frankly nuts! Despite his character/personality/uninspiring tones etc, he retained captaincy of one of England's bigger teams for in excess of 10 years, and this same dour miserable guy who is lacking in umph was selected as England captain for a period. Now, I know full well there are differences between leadership and management but I'd argue there is more requirement to be inspirational as a leader as opposed to a manager. A number of people in senior positions in football, who worked closely with him on a regular basis, clearly saw something in him that you don't.

And England did exactly what under his captaincy? And that's with all the good players he had around him at that time. I'll give it you he was inspirational for his club as a leader, though I don't see him repeating that in management. Basically he was 'one of them' and the fans took to his battling displays and made him a leader (and he was for them, I'm not going to deny it as that would be silly). Though take him away from Liverpool and he's a fish out of water (as far as a leader of men goes) imo.

Gerrard is hardly to blame for England performances. What planet are you on? You are basing all of this on nothing more than a biased hatred of someone from Liverpool. Quite frankly I find it ridiculous. You've said nothing that can actually back up your 'opinion'. Have opinions by all means, but ffs put some thought into them.

The right tone in his voice ? Did you ever hear Alf Ramsey speak ? Have you listened to that monotone and dour Wilder who doesn't seem to do a bad job ?

If you are dour in your personality you have to have charisma to back it up to be a leader like Mourinho, even he has lost his charisma and now he's struggling and that's despite his wealth of knowledge and understanding in club management. I've explained my reasons and my arguments more valid than those who say he could become a good manager because of his experience in the game and the regard he has. Management takes that special sort of character and I don't see it in him what's the problem with that? Anyway, you've got my reasons and I'll not bore you anymore with them, other than to say it'll be interesting to see how he does go on if he every does land any gigs and to see whether he thinks he's cut out for it after he's tasted what the job is really like for himself.

And the point is that neither you nor I nor anybody else knows whether he does or doesn't have it in a dressing room full of professional footballers based on the tone of his voice in public interviews. Different situation completely.
