WTF??

Why is Danny refusing to answer questions about Ched?
What the bludddy hell do they have to be secretive about now?

I'd imagine they've given him a few days off, and will review his situation on his return.

My guess, assuming it won't cause any long term damage, he'll be desperate to play and he could either put up with the pain or maybe have pain killing injections to get him through part/all of the game.

I too would have given him a few days off after all that stress.
When there seems to be an opportunity though for DW to welcome both the result and Ched's desire to thank us and settle down with us, DW refuses to discuss the situation. What on earth could be behind that stance?

On the off chance he may be close to fitness why tell the opposition

You seem agitated about the situation

Yesterday on RS he answered the question about Evans' next appearance, "When he's fit, next week, week after, sooner rather than later, I hope". That is a sort of answer!

Admittedly, got stroppy and refused to answer when the interviewer asked about last weeks events (understandably perhaps) and refused to answer a question about his contract situation.

Have you ever thought that Ched might not want to settle down with us?

I have.

I would hope that when we signed Ched the deal was subject to some agreement on what would happen post trial. Otherwise we would have been taking known risks without any guaranteed actions to mitigate these. We may have been able to end the contract had he been found guilty again. Hopefully having given him the early opportunity to reestablish his career we have an agreement that if not guilty he would stay with us for the full season and we have an option to extend his contract for an additional year.
Win win for both. Ched gets the chance to show what he can do to attract interest from bigger clubs and we have him under contract for another year both for the goals but also to ensure we get a decent fee in the summer.

Tonight oppo, Uwe Rosler doesn't release much info about any of his payers injuries, maybe Ched IS a possible tonight so Danny is simply playing Rosler's game?

Indeed. What a great good news story for first thing Monday morning, and yet suppression is the order of the day. Perhaps I'm over reacting and the story will break later this week.

TBH I think with all the follow up in the press after the trial , the guilty of being a slimeball stuff, then even if there's been any agreement regarding the contract then best let the dust settle so to speak rather than risk more bad press on our "opportunist" signing of Ched. You know the old adage..today's news is tomorrow's chip paper

Certainly not whether there is option of a second year.

Perhaps he has an early escape clause and I can see why they wouldn't want to discuss that

you are probably right. He will have every intention of triggering the 'games played' clause in his contract which leads to an automatic extension............won't he?
I'm probably paranoid and worrying unnecessarily after Wilson's comment, but it could be a £3m situation. I'm sure they'll clear it all up quickly.

Must have missed the 'Games Played to trigger a second year extension' bit in the press release. The way I see it is that the option is with Evans IF he wants another year with the club. As far as I read the only way CFC get any benefits of the Evans signing was that if they sell in January, because at the end of the season he'll say "No thanks to a second year" and move elsewhere.

Agree, unless an extension is sorted out/agreed prior to Christmas then come January surely he'll be sold

From the original story on the official site....

http://www.chesterfi...ns-3146681.aspx

"Evans, who has signed a one-year contract with an option for a further year"

So there is an option for a second year that you suspect is heavily stacked in our favour.

Yes, the press release mentions a second year but that is all.

I personally think the second year is stacked in Evans camp, of which he would decline, if he wants to get back to playing in the Championship and at International Level, because as it stands Chesterfield are heading to League Two, that may change of course it's only October.

Would expect there's something built in that allows us to get a fee if he leaves next summer

With the option I would imagine that applies to both parties. I.e. Either can trigger it. If he does become a target for other clubs willing to pay I doubt either party would allow him to go for nothing.
