So we should ignore the cases where men have their lives ruined or nearly ruined by false accusations because its not as common as your agenda?

I give up.

I agree and there's plenty of others with you on this

So, technically, you are right. The process has to be kick started with the identification of a complainant, otherwise the wheels of justice can't get underway. When the complaint has been registered, the State becomes the complainant.

So, the big question is........... to what extent was the woman coerced into becoming the complainant, and by whom?
Perhaps she knew her own mind and there was no coercion.

If it's the latter then I suspect her motives weren't entirely honourable, if it's the former then heads should roll.

We're probably never going to find out though, as all parties involved probably just want the whole thing to go away.

Perhaps these people are just as outspoken over rape statistics for both females and men and the tiny conviction rate? http://rapecrisis.or.../statistics.php

I know what the qualification is, I struggle to understand how some of them get it, given the questions they ask me. I often have a bit of sport with them in court in makes it worthwhile. I've often said to the judge that I can't answer the question as the question doesn't make sense and when they have reworded it, I've still told the judge it doesn't make sense. I think my record is five times on the trot. The judge told me on one occasion that I knew exactly what he was trying to ask me and I replied I'm sorry your honour I thought I was here to answer the questions he asked me not the ones I thought he wanted to ask me. The judge just laughed and said "quite, now if you want him to answer what we all know damn well what you are wanting to ask, then just ask him or move on". He then proceeded to re-word the question and he made it a closed one, so I just said "no" and the judge laughed at him.

He then went on to subtract one figure from another and got the wrong answer. In the next sentence he then went on to say he had carried out multiple calculations over a five year period and he came up with a different figure to the one I had given him. He then said "what does that suggest to you" obviously implying my figure was wrong. I just replied " as you have just subtracted one figure from the other and got the wrong answer, I would have no confidence you could carry out hundreds of calculations and come up with the right answer, so it suggests you have gone wrong somewhere, as my figure is correct". It was a long session lol

Another one waved a piece of paper at me and asked me what is was. I said i didn't know but I could make a good guess. He said I shouldn't be guessing and that if I was there to give evidence then I should know. I let him grill me about it for about 10 mins then I got bored and said to him "you do realise this has nothing to do with me and that's not my evidence", "well if it's not yours, who does it belong to?" I just pointed to my colleague at the back of the room and said him, so I suggest you call him as a witness if you want to talk about it lol.

I could write a book. The trouble with day to day barristers is that they take on too many cases through pure greed and don't give themselves time to prepare. Obviously in high profile cases like Ched's they prepare to the max

PS I'm not a police officer

I'd still like to know when you are next on stage. I can't wait to be there!

What a Despicable post.

Thousands of females have to live with the psychological effects of rape. The shame, the humiliation, the trauma.

On top of that they know that there is less than. a 10% chance of securing a conviction, they know that going to court they will be subjected to abuse and character assassination- after all, prove she's a slag or was dressed like a tart at time and people like you howl indignation and accuse them of crying rape.

Even then, a "not guilty" verdict doesn't mean a woman cried rape, it means the accused was not found guilty.

Two utterly different things that your limited intellect clearly can't differentiate between

You are a waste of oxygen.

V good post. Still, from his posting he comes across as very young and if you recall when this case first came about when I was what, 18? I was dismissive of the girl as well (although I don't think I went as far as he did) so hopefully he'll grow out of his misogyny soon.

5 million pound windfall for us being banded about in the daily mirror by 2 struggling premier league clubs. With the link up I have a feeling he will be at Burnley soon enough.

Just read that, although I think the Jan window is too son for any real bids, I'd like him to stay for the season and ensure safety. Then get our "reward" from the highest bidder.

I'd be flabbergasted if that was the case based on a handful of professional games in 4 years.

I was told by a director there is a gentlemans agreement in place where he stays for the season (assuming the court case had the result it did), and having triggered th extension we get a decent fee in the summer, should the big guns come knocking.

No time soon. Has he scored since August? He needs a dozen games and goals in then before we can cash in, if that's what we do. I'd like to see him sign that extended contract when the time is right too, on bigger money if needs be. Ideally after his hat-trick sees off Sheffield United.

Did he ever score consistently in the championship let alone the premiership? I think we're a way of £5m moves to the premiership!! That said a blunts fan i know is already spouting off that there are "strong rumours" he's joining them in January! I think he'll be going nowhere for a while yet.

Don't think I'd fancy my chances playing 3 card brag with D.A.
Have we finally turned the corner? or after a few days sabbatical is it back to CT bashing?

Very good comment that mate.
Also an article in the Mail were Barbara Davies uses the words.."played out in the seedy backdrop of a cheap hotel room"..Now I know Premier Inns arnt exactly the ritz but we've used them often over the years on various excursions around the country and always found them very clean and comfortable. If I was involved with Premier Inn I'd be straight on the blower asking for a retraction of that seedy slur.

The Sun: Friend of Women ™. PS, see Ola's minge on page 3.

I don't have a problem with The Sun having issues with the case, but this is downright misrepresentation.

Do you really think this is an indicator of us turning the corner?

It crossed my mind that some premier Inn marketing guru might seek to abort some room numbers and name them instead.
