Holmesfield will be coming into 4N from the YDCL so they will have to shuffle things around a bit.

Not sure of any more comings or goings.

Teams in 4N were already made aware of Holmesfield coming in and told there would be an extra team relegated to make room for them i think was the plan so that's catered for. As it stands that would mean Alfreton, Duffield and Langley Mill down to be replaced by Selston and Darley Abbey from 5N and Holmmesfield coming in then whoever goes up would be replaced i think by Elvaston who are the most northern of the 3 teams currently in the relegation places unless they can get above Denby 2nds over the final couple of weeks. Elvaston & Denby both nice decent grounds, Darley Abbey is ok, Holmesfield is ok from what i can remember from midweek games there but small and quite a slope leaving Selston which isnt a great place to play.

Just a case of whether any teams in 3 or higher decide to drop down\pack up as has happened in the past with the likes of Staveley, Clay Cross, Langley Mill, Stainsby etc over the years meaning a reshuffle in some way.

email I've seen from league suggests Holmesfield coming in at 5N level

I expect a few teams to drop out, but not heard of any additions

Sorry - Tier 5 for Holmesfield which will be 4N

Info from League Newsletter below:

Promotion and relegation
The overriding principle is ‘two up – two down’ except in the case of tier 5 (Division 4) where only the champions of each division are promoted along with the best runner-up. A change to League Rule C2:2:1:1 was made at the November Rules Revision Meeting, voted for by member clubs, which now reads: ‘In the event of one or more teams withdrawing from a division at any time between the Complement of League meeting and the end of the season the number of teams automatically relegated from that division shall be reduced by the same number.’
There have been withdrawals in 2016 from Divisions 5S and 7N, Yoxall and Swanwick Hall respectively, prior to the start of the season. Consequently only one team will be relegated from those divisions. As previously notified Holmesfield of the Yorkshire & Derbyshire League have been accepted into the league and will enter in tier 5; there will therefore be an extra relegation from that tier in order to accommodate them; this will be the tenth-placed team in that tier with the worst record. We have been informed that Stanton Elks will merge with Ilkeston Rutland at the end of the season, and will run four teams rather than the current total of five from the two clubs. This will mean that there will be some shuffling of teams from around tier 7 to accommodate this but that will not result in any extra relegation. Both Belper clubs have entered a 3rd XI for 2017, and they will be placed in the lowest tier

Based on that info looks like Langley Mill are down then. They are 37pts behind the three teams on 216pts that are above them in 4N and 36pts behind the 10th placed team in 4S but Langley Mill only have one game to play, against promotion chasing Belper Meadows, so cant get the points to make up the difference. Such a shame!! ;) In an ideal world they'll stuff Meadows to do us a favour whilst knowing they are relegated!!

The extra game they've played was their fixture at our place but we cant have the ground these next two weekends due to football now having priority so the game was played back in May i think. We bowled them out for under 100 after getting 170ish to take 27pts to their 5ish.

We've had 8 games cancelled 2 abandoned against top 2 sides at the time when in a very good positioln played the current top 2 twice, only lost one all season and will probably finish bottom half. Where's Duckworth Lewis when you need them
Derbyshire is Derbyshire
Yorkshire is Yorkshire

Never the twain shall meet.

we've had a nightmare with weather

games cancelled when we are full strength - abandoned when in good positions to win

leaves us a point from safety with 2 games to go

eek

Generally over the last couple of seasons we've done pretty well with the weather. Ground drains pretty well bar one side which we can bring the boundary in to get around. Probably not a coincidence either that we've done well since the covers were purchased plus we have one of those sopper things you push round and it collects lots of water. Few times we've won in good time as well when the weather may have cost us otherwise. Had a bit of a luck as well....fairly sure had Saturday been at Queens Park instead of Ashover we would have been going home early if we'd turned up at all.

It appears for once we all agree, Derbyshire need more fat cricketers

Another fat lad slipped through our net

Sharjeel, slightly lightweight for a fat lad but has potential to grow, already signed for Leicestershire anyway

38 wickets in two days at Taunton - which is usually one of the flatter tracks.

ECB Pitch Inspector sent up for day two says it was mainly inept batting and good bowling????

I wonder would he say the same if it was mid June?

Having to endure sitting amongst Yorkshire fans whilst they roll Durham over this morning. At least it was free to get here and get in.

Given some tickets as a birthday present. Was actually a good day in the sun even when surrounded by happy puddings.

Heavy rain forecast from 10pm'ish tonight through to mid morning\lunchtime in both Derby and Belper so i suspect the Allestree and Meadows lads will be a little twitchy. Rain affected games tomorrow could make the final weekend very interesting with us all away at relegated sides!

Allestree don't have proper covers either. Could play into your hands.
