Luiz £32m back to Chelsea, PSG paid £50m for him, always hated the way he put his arms behind his back when defending in the box.

Same here. There must be a case for saying I will defend with my arms out to make it more difficult for the attacker, and if I give away the occasional handball penalty then so be it.

If Leeds brought Gboly back for 1.2m. Not on the same scale, but same thing.

New story on the club site saying offers rejected.

If we don't want to sell him, why comment? It's embarrassing the way we're trying to drum up the price for the player.

if they say something, fans moan.... if they said nothing other fans would moan that we arent being kept updated. Not so easy this running a football club lark...

We are a selling club - like most others. We should always be talking up the value of our assets.

Just the usual subterfuge from the CEO ; must still think we haven't noticed this familiar patern for EVERY SINGLE SALE IN THE LAST TWO YEARS.

Giddings on Twitter:

"Hearing #chesterfieldfc Boly Ariyibi could be forced to hand in a transfer request. Club standing firm on valuation after champ interest. "

I'll say it now for the CEO to save his breath...you can't stand in a players way when he wants to leave...

Let me suggest a scenario that may or may not be realistic.

Wilson: 'sell, 'cos it's the only way my financial arm might be untied from behind my back'.

Turner: 'sell, 'cos, erm, well, let's just say I've got my reasons...'.

However Allen: 'keep him. He's the new Ronaldo. He's gonna be great and unless I get every penny I'm demanding he's staying at my club'.

Flies in the face of everything we've witnessed over the last couple of years but you just never know...

Or, and to totally contradict everything I've just posted, could it be CFC forcing him to do so in a bid to divert blame?

The money splashing around the top is mind boggling, £13m Rhys Mason to Hull.

Ryan Mason presumably. If not it's definitely mind boggling for someone who isn't even a footballer.

Just throw this tweet from Carson into the mix that was tweeted as a reply to the clubs tweet about offers being rejected :-

@ChesterfieldFC Gboly Ariyibi will not be sold unless the clubs valuation is met. He is a great asset to the club. Chairman stands strong

I think you're doing Niccolo Machiavelli a dis-service.

But a cynic might argue that it does deflect blame, and save us a few quid.

I will throw a different angle on it then seeing that we are all guessing.

Gboly is in the process of changing agents which I believe is sometime in October. Which agent would be better off by pushing a deal through now?

Agree to an extent....my only issue is that yes he's a great asset to the club but one only contracted til the end of the season. Whilst keeping him til the end of the season means we have him on the pitch we may potentially lose out on a decent amount of cash. I presume a lot of it is just trying to force the hands of the interested parties to up the price. From a selling point of view what does sound good is multiple clubs interested.

The Peak commentator has tweeted that his preference is Derby but how he knows that is anyone's guess.

Which is irrelevant if we turn it down

Or we keep him until January, if he's any good he will play well and then more interest in January.

If two or three decent games gets this interest he should work on the basis a dozen better ones will get him a Premier League transfer.
