It seems to be in no small part due to the scale of contracts offered to Cooks team and bonuses which we already know wiped out the Wembley money. CT no doubt endorsed such contracts. I suppose we weren't complaining at the time but we didn't know about it or the consequences. I may be miles out with this!

I seem to remember a number of vague references towards something like this, but again from memory I think they were just part of a relatively incoherent quasi-explanation by the CEO.

Perhaps forgetting that he himself must surely have played a part in negotiating those supposedly damaging deals.

He obviously ought to explain if this is the reason for the deficits and, if so, why it was allowed to happen. It's not enough to say the owner okayed it as it's the ceo's job to advise restraint should that be necessary to avoid a possible financial dilemma. It suggests Cooks success was based on money.

I'm talking about Brentford a team we have been on par with for the best part 40/50 years, not necessarily selling Ariyibi

One thing for sure, if we had gone up two years back we wouldn't be having £800K bids being knocked back

We aren't anywhere near Brentford as a club nowadays. Their owner has spent 90 million in the club, probably more than DA is worth

With the amount of activity surrounding Gboly, I'd be amazed if he's still a Chesterfield player when the Window closes. Let's see. He will probably end up at Derby for 1.2m.

That wouldn't be too bad at that price, the problem is replacing him in time

Agreed, particularly with most up front, a cpl of add ons and allowing DW to bring in two good players. Saying that it'll be circa £750,000 and a cpl of loan deals.

The money splashing around the top is mind boggling, £13m Rhys Mason to Hull.

I heard some team was interested in Hull's Maguire for the same figure. Crazy. So, 1.2m for Gboly doesn't seem out the question considering some players fees.

In context, it seems cheap.

He's still only 25 though and was highly rated at Spurs.

I think it's a good signing for Hull.

50 appearances at 25 for Spurs since 2008.

Could be a good signing, Huddlestone was, but the money, jeez.

Wilshere to Bournemouth, how the overrated have fallen.

Wilshere needs to get a season playing as much as possible to get past the in and out nature of being at Arsenal and injuries. Still a quality player and i dont think he's going to Bournemouth for definite as yet....seemed he had to choose between them and Palace but now Roma are pushing hard to get him which would be a very good move for him.

Luiz £32m back to Chelsea, PSG paid £50m for him, always hated the way he put his arms behind his back when defending in the box.
