It is a bit depressing a club like Brentford offering £800K

Most of my footballing life CFC have been equals with them

They won't have offered 800k up front

that's what I was thinking, an £800k deal doesn't mean £800k transfer fee up front.

more likely to be half that

Why would it be depressing?
If the offer included sell on clauses or making 20 appearances in a promotion season where the club would receive a large amount of money, the difference between the cash price and add-ons falls into little significance. Where would we be now if we had managed promotion and went up to the Championship a few seasons ago.
CFC needs to stabilise and address the outgoings with the incomings. As Phil Tooley said and Dave Allen reminds us "it's the best we will get" & "you've never had it so good"

£10M better off from TV monies? Playing Derby, Newcastle, Forest, Norwich et al? All with journeymen like Burton? Players sold for £5M (like Mawson at Barnsley) rather than a few hundred thousand?

I can't see the Championship has anything going for it.

I'm talking about Brentford a team we have been on par with for the best part 40/50 years, not necessarily selling Ariyibi

One thing for sure, if we had gone up two years back we wouldn't be having £800K bids being knocked back

Not arguing with you over this, I wish we had took our chance and won promotion. Best chance we will get for a long time. In fact I doubt I will ever live to see us in the Championship, but let's look at the difference.

We have an exciting winger name Gboly playing for us in division 1 and a few offers are coming in for a lad that has put in some very good performances over the last 10 - 12 games.

Forest on the other hand are in the Championship and had a young lad that they brought through their academy in the name of Burke, he elevated to the first team and has had 4 cracking games for Forest this season, he's just been sold to Germany for £13M, the mind boggles!!

So if Gboly was playing for Forest or Derby, how much would his value be if he was in the Championship? How much would he have been worth if we had took our chance of promotion. I can't help thinking that the lack of investment has cost the club dearly. IMO it wouldn't have been a gamble.

I can see our problem being cash flow, we've gone from 7k fans to 6k fans and now it looks like we've bottomed at 5k fans. With not making any money over the previous 2 years, I can see us having to sell to bridge the financial gap yet again!
I understand why supporters are keeping away & why sponsors aren't renewing, but it will be bad for the club. DA is not lining his pockets out of CFC, he is getting a return on his loans the same as other directors. I can't see us reducing the debt (or loans) unless we sell Gboly & Evans for serious money.Z

But Rob, at what point does the Chairman start asking why we haemorrhaged money even when attracting the attendances you mention?

Not to mention enjoying a Wembley final, fourth round tie at Derby and an appearance in the L1 play offs?

Infact the debt still grew after we'd sold players!

And of course fans are now deserting the Club for many more reasons than poor results.

There're major flaws at the Proact, my friend, and until Allen addresses those flaws he'll continue to lose support and money.
Never underestimate the stupidity of people

Sorry, don't know where you got your information from but you are way off the mark. They did put in a sensible offer on the table compared to Barnsley but their offer included promotion, appearances and International games.
There is another Championship club chasing Gboly and have turned his head with 6k per week. Gboly is in the middle of changing agents but as yet they will not sign a new contract. As stated DA values Gboly and has put his own price tag on the lads head. I hope they get somewhere near that figure but unlike others, I do think CT will get the best deal for the club.

I can see our problem being cash flow, we've gone from 7k fans to 6k fans and now it looks like we've bottomed at 5k fans. With not making any money over the previous 2 years, I can see us having to sell to bridge the financial gap yet again!

So what was the excuse for not reducing the debt when we sold £4.5m of players when we did have big crowds? Where did that money go?

It seems to be in no small part due to the scale of contracts offered to Cooks team and bonuses which we already know wiped out the Wembley money. CT no doubt endorsed such contracts. I suppose we weren't complaining at the time but we didn't know about it or the consequences. I may be miles out with this!
