If we are going to lose him I'd sooner take Gregory in a swap deal than get nothing invested back into the squad as with all our other sales.

LG is a top player at this level and him and Evans would be by far the best strike partnership in this league; surely though they'd have to take Seb off our hands as part of the deal :D

No chance he will come to us, more likely Rotherham.

If I remember correctly, in both Lee Richardson's seasons in charge we finished not that far off the play offs. Believe you me, there have been many Chesterfield Managers with very much worse records than that!

Richardson took over with nine games to play and Town outside the bottom four. However only two wins from those nine saw us relegated with a whimper rather than anything even approaching a roar.

Bizarrely the then Chairman handed him the gig full time, stating he was one of the better funded managers in the division and 'anything but promotion will be failure'. Yet despite having the mercurial talent of Jamie Ward, Jack Lester falling into his lap and somehow convincing Steve Fletcher to spend a season with us Richardson finished a full nine points short of the play offs.

His second and final full season saw us languishing mid-table, regularly embarrassed by modest opponents and dumped out the Cup by Droylsden. Yeah there was the game called-off amidst hugely suspicious circumstances, but it was the only one of the four we even looked like winning. A brief purple patch had us in the top seven for a whole seven days, yet winning only one of his final nine - a worse record than when relegated - left Town in our lowest position for more than two decades.

Taking into account what they had at their disposal, and the fact that four of his rivals were docked points during his tenure, Richardson falls short of even the no-pot-to-pi**-in Rushbury.
Never underestimate the stupidity of people

Rico was utterly clueless and quite how he earned the job I'm not sure.

He had a half a dozen quality players and failed to get anything remotely like a tune out of them.

Him and Saunders were both equally toilet.

A bit like mansfield now in those days. But maybe they were in conference then 😆

Nicky Law credits Rico with keeping the dressing room together during the dark days post-investigation team.

Given his appointments since, obviously very good at the man management side of things but he didn't look the type to give out rollockings at HT.

My recollection is that he assembled half a decent team, who were capable of playing some good stuff but his inability to get a settled defense and lack of 'legs' in midfield (looking at YOU Jamie Winter) let him down - in season 1 the defence was Downes/Kovacs and inexperienced - then, he went for Page, Austin etc. and it was still ropey.
If you tell the truth, you don't have to remember anything.
