Hes not from our academy, and he's been here a short amount of time. We're not really going to get that much.

He will have been here foe 3 years before it would become relevant, he was rescused from the scrap heep, a reserve/fringe player for a year so that is a lot of development

The contract that a club will offer, coupled with the contract we are prerpared to offer in response will be the deciding factors

Ever heard of Luke "2 contracts" Beckett?

I too remember that really embarrising interview he gave

If he sells him for a few hundred grand now, it will be another indicator of how full of faeces he is

Poor man's Ronaldo. What % of CRs value does that make GA ?

No, but we can say they are some some astute people on here.
We can deduce a derisory offer (the club's words) is likely to be nearer £100k than £1M.

The thread is more about if we have to sell now, what do folk think is the minimum fee we should accept; rather than what have Barnsley offered.

Jimmy Ryan wasn't from Accrington's academy, yet the tribunal set an ultimate fee of £195,000 plus a 20% sell on fee when he signed for Scunny. That was 5 years ago, so with football inflation as it is, I can't see all being lost if we go through to next summer.

Jimmy went for £110k, the rest was performance/appearance related:

http://news.bbc.co.u...utd/9581486.stm

he went to make the 60+ appearances so they got an additional £60k but it wasn't guaranteed.

here is Gboly's own agents take on the Under 24 scenario:

and here is the EFl regulations:

notably, the panel is made up of 5 members, one from the 'selling' club.

I think BA has every attribute to become a class player, however, he is nowhere near the finished article. However, I do think over the past 6 months or so he has made good progress (before he was very frustrating to watch). The club is in an awkward position with him...I doubt they will be offered over 1 million for him as he only has 11 months left on his contract; in my opinion, he could be worth much more if he continues to progress.

My preference would be for the club to invest in him in the short/medium term by offering him a 2 year extension on a very generous weekly wage with, a release clause if they receive an offer over an agreed amount (say 2 million plus future sell on clauses). However, as we are in such a financial mess, I think the owners will see a half half offer, say 600k and sell...

that's just a nickname name:

Omogbolahan Gregory Ariyibi is his full name.

Omogbolahan seems to be of the Yoruba tribe (Nigerian origins):

- Omo meaning Child
- Gbolohan meaning show off wealth.

All this time and we could've called him Greg. Guess some would've still said Reg.

So in all the examples shown, the compensated club was allocated a 20% sell on fee. I still think we should keep him, keep the on board fans happy and let it go to tribunal next summer.

Clearly Barnsley appear unlikely to up their bid from 'derisory' to acceptable. But, there again, when their town's motto is 'Ow Much' - what else do we expect?

 Big potential.if he'd only show it more often. No chance of a big money offer coming in unless he shows some consistency.

He'll have a struggle to cement a place in thier team. Don't think it is a position they are struggling with. I reckon it is speculate to accumulate on Barnsley's part so they will be trying it on

but then you risk two things:

An unhappy player or a serious injury.

on the flip side, he and we have a great first half of the season, were up there in January when only lower Championship clubs are still sniffing and we can tempt him with another contract offer, with the sniff of a decent raise, should we get promoted.

All ifs, buts and maybes at this stage!

That is good information.

Reinforces to me the idea that we should hang on to him and go for the compensation in the summer. All a bit of a gamble though

It would be imperative we make him a good offer to backup our valuation. DA would be squitting himself over that, he might actually agree to re-sign
