Actually neither, when I met Ashley last week and we discussed what needed to change I mentioned amongst other things that the Derbyshire Times ban ought to be lifted as in the fans eyes it was thoroughly undeserved.
The following week I was approached by the DT (Graham had been on holiday the previous week when Rafflegate came to light) and asked if I'd be willing to chat about my "tour memoirs" and the way forward for Spireites and the fans.
I contacted Ashley to inform him of this out of courtesy and that I intended to speak about my trip to Hungary and give my views that he knew about as to the way forward (see posting on this thread or page 102 of this weeks print edition of the DT) during this conversation Ashley indicated he would be willing for us to meet the Derbyshire Times together.
During my conversation with Graham I mentioned this and he confirmed, as I think was obvious from his Sheffield Wednesday match report (also on this thread) from the Kop that the newspaper wanted the normal media access back and would be happy to meet Ashley.
So I arranged for us to meet yesterday being the earliest convenient date for all parties, as the press release states the talks were positive but it just needed agreement from DA to approve the return of normal media access. This was approved last night and the parties agreed the joint statement today. I saw this at the same time as everyone else.
I don't think it's my place or would be right to disclose any details as to what was said at the hearing, except it was positive as confirmed in the joint press release, appreciating I was in privileged position of being allowed to attend. It's only right to also add AC didn't mind me disclosing how the meeting came about.
I was subsequently so relieved an agreement in principle had been reached and the/a fans voice was being listened to that following the meeting I went straight down to the club and bought my ticket for last night's match.
I'm hoping a corner has been now been turned and I hope we can all rally round to give Danny and the boys the support they deserve.
Good work once again Mark.
