Still reckon they want to be looking the other way down the football ladder if they want to invite teams to play, would give most of the league fans somewhere new to go to and give the National League teams an idea what they face if they come up. It would also make the advent of 'League 3' without the 'b'/U21 teams a reality.

Wasn't it the prem teams pushing for this as part of competitive games etc and Gregg Dykes talks of 'B' teams like in Spain..seems like the clubs themselves weren't that bothered!

I think it was the FA & the Premier League hierarchy, but they forgot to ask the clubs!!!!!

It's thought that other clubs down the pyramid with Cat 1 academies will be invited to take the spare places.
Might we get to enter two teams then??

According to the Man City statement, the early round fixture dates clash with U21 international dates.
No wonder the top teams aren't interested.

Surely for a few extra quid the PL under-21 teams could be given a bye past the early round?

U21's have euro qualifiers and seniors have world cup qualifiers at the times of the 3 1st round dates......

It was just a rate bad idea that Dyke came up with trying to develop youth for England. to go down the pyramid isn't an option because unless there's a future 23 man England squad there then nobody would benefit.
It's just demeaning a competition that is truly our only chance of winning a knockout trophy at Wembley. Dyke is turning out to be another joke. Coming up with hairbrained ideas but not even consulting the clubs that we don't want in the competition and ultimately aren't wanting to enter anyway. It's an all mighty great cock up that could possibly end up with a league one team with two teams entered into it.
F**kin businessmen should stop looking at the "product" and start looking at the sport.

Sod em, the JPT should be for the lower leagues only with possibly National League teams invited.

You don't think that would devalue an already rubbish competition.
Now where have I heard that complaint before?

the problem with that is the possibility of Accrington winning the cup they will need to spend the profits on a trip abroad. A bye through to the third round of the Fa cup would be more of a prize.

Unless you are carrying a bigger squad. More players mean more don't get competitive games
Not arguing for it just pointing out an alternative view
