Because he has an option for another year, which one would assume is appearance/goal scoring/court case dependant and will be triggered well before January.

Triggered ? that could still meant anything.

I'm struggling to see how we benefit from signing Evans on a 1 year deal. ( Irrespective of other aspects)

Of course he has the court case pending but I am sure the small print in the deal will cover that.

If he is cleared to carry on his career, come January he is a free agent again and financially we lose out on any transfer fee. So why is he here?

1. There is an agreement in place to re negotiate his deal immediately if the court case goes his way ?

2. We want confirmation of his fitness and value to the team?

Dave, try not to lose sleep with all your thinking mate.
All the talking has been about what the fans think of Ched Evans, turn it round. What does Ched Evans think of CFC, DA or DW?

I think a lot of homework had gone on way before Evans signed, the club are paying his wages and yes he is on a nice bonus if he scores 25 goals in the season. Evans has said he will hit his bonus before Christmas.
Regarding a sell on, he is more than happy for CFC to milk his price for everything they can. He is only interested in getting back into football and hopefully CFC will have given him that chance.

I think we all think that his fitness and match practice is a bit of a gamble, but let's wait and see. He's signed now, he's a CFC player and like all CFC players, I will give him my support whilst ever he wears the blue & white shirt.

I am sure Ched Evans will do right by CFC if he returns to the player he was a few years ago.

His target must be to play for a higher level club and get back into the Welsh squad asap. If he hits 25 goals by xmas it should fast-track that move. Or could he play for Wales while with Chesterfield? Who was our last current full international?

Does he have the option, or does the club have the option?

Probably works both ways, ..he has a stormer and the club trigger the second year...he's a disaster with no chance of moving up the ladder, then he triggers the second year.
