It's just brilliant ain't it? In-fighting and divisions after just 48 hrs - people choosing sides, calling that girl horrible names. All brought on wilfully by those running the club.

In-fighting? Divisions? Chossing sides? Truly a first for his messageboard :o

moral point - perhaps all those of you protesting about the affect that us signing Ched Evans will have on their daughters,& the effect of role models in society, maybe the lesson they need to learn and perhaps you need to be teaching them, is not to get so allegadly drunk you don't know who is shagging you. This is a question of personal responsibility,on both sides. On a football side, i'm also worried / concerned that he had 3-4 years in the wilderness, had a good period of 14 games before he was sent to prison and hasn't kicked a competetive ball foe 4 years - big risk; has he the appetitite? looks like he has otherwise he might have just said stuff it and worked for his father in law.

Dave Allen will've rubber stamped this.

As at Hillsborough, when challenged by Bates, 'Wednesdayite', and tens of thousands of fans, he's proving to have the hide and temperament of a Rhino.

Maybe he's been assured Evans will be cleared; maybe he's been assured sponsors won't pull out; maybe he's been assured fans won't desert in droves.

But it wouldn't surprise me if he's simply thought '>insert appropriate word of choice< 'em' when warned of repercussions.

And yet folk still claim a succession of players were sold against his wishes...
Never underestimate the stupidity of people

So, in general terms, you want to teach the girls to act and dress so that someone other than than themselves would be raped rather than teach the boys to treat people with respect or rape someone who has had a few to many?
I think you have your priorities in exactly the wrong order.

It'll be a good price of business when we sell him to Portsmouth.

Think Ched will have much bigger plans after us, his statement upon joining the club.....

“I have played in the Premier League and for Wales” said Evans. “I hope to be able to do both again and whilst not quite what I aimed for, Chesterfield could be the stepping stone I need to get back there.”

Gee thanks 😳

This whole escapade has been eye opening in terms of board members attitudes to this sort of situation and not
in a good way

I must admit this is what worries me about him more than anything.
On being given a contract he should be contrite, grateful and apologetic for his actions.
Instead it's all about him.
To quote my mate 'he should be paying us two grand a week to pull on the shirt that most of us would give a left knacker to do '
He hardly seems committed with a quote like that.
I can see goals, vitriol, toxicity and a swift parting of the ways.
He's a wrong un.

I can't quite believe the tone of that statement if I'm honest. Things in black and white can be taken out of context which I accept, but it can construed as...

"Yeah I'm here when I actually deserve better, and I feel the need to mention that, as by the way, I have played for much bigger clubs you know, but hey ho these are the ones I've signed with, for now anyway..."

When I would hope for..

"I'm grateful to Chesterfield FC for believing in me, they've given me an opportunity most wouldn't and I'm grateful for that. I will give them 100% and do my best"

Something to that effect would've been a little easier to accept and kept my eyebrows on my face.

Yes I must admit I don't think he's been best advised with that statement at all.

Which folk have claimed players were sold against DA's wishes, Chris?

I've heard all sorts of reasons as to why players were sold - but not that one!

Regarding Evans - I have heard that DW has kept in contact with him, even visited him in prison, and wanted to give him a second chance.

When he had served his sentence I was against signing him but, now, I have mellowed. There is a reason the ruling in his case was quashed. There are reasons why his fiancé and her father have stood by him. He has served his sentence (rightly or wrongly) and if he wasn't a high profile footballer that is the last we would have heard of it. I really hope he does well with this second chance.
