If she had been around during the Darren Brown era he would have had her full support up to the minute CFSS took over.

But it seems to be many like minded people given the number of "greens" she's accumulated for that post.

Most of the fans were behind Brown until almost the end from what I've been told..... Do you not think that innocent until proven guilty should mean just that?

There is no doubt that Ched has the pedigree as a top class striker.......if his re-trial in October clears him, then great..let's move on..his concious is clear!............However, the gamble is IF he is not cleared....what then??

I can only think...that if a lot of thought has gone into this & they must have discussed with his lawyers that his case is a no brainer & will be cleared...we have stuck our neck out & jumped ahead of the queue.
Ched has a lot to prove....score 40 goals & all is forgiven ;o)

Well here is one thing for sure....Chesterfield FC will be tabloid news every week & they'll be wanting live matches with the spotlight on Ched......

Deal or no deal.......looks like we have dealt the deal

If that is the case why employ him? Anything to do with the community - what like performing in front of the local community, including school children on a weekly basis?

Ridiculous.

I would like to think a daughter of mine would not put herself in that situation in the first place

Guilty of Rape - Debatable
Guilty of Beings Silly - Definitely

And mine wouldn't as they've been brought up in the right way. Unlike a certain Mr Evans.
Is it not about the club showing some respect for its female fans by not employing someone who carries so much baggage and is morally bankrupt and will just bring grief to the club week after week after week?
This thread is quite eye opening to be honest in terms of peoples moral and social compass.

I really don't think that's called for. VM came on here to give her thoughts as a female supporter. Just because her views don't agree with yours doesn't make her in any way ridiculous :angry

Some good may come out of this yet, as the whole sports media will be all over CFC like a rash looking for titbits, now, if someone could just point them in the direction of the PPP fiasco............ who knows huh ?

Innocent or not we should have stayed well clear! Why get ourselves involved with all that will come with this signing? Why split the director's and fans relations even further? And even risk dividing the fans?

Madness in my view. I mean... it's not as there aren't any other strikers about. At least they will have kicked a football in the last four years! A massive gamble for me, and not one that I can say I'm proud of either, innocent or not.

We sack him off as appears to be our option should that happen. Its been mentioned a few times in this thread already.

Not sure what to think about this signing at the moment.

We all know he was a good player back in the day and would've probably gone on to bigger and better things, its an odd time to sign him now with the retrial still to come so i'm hoping the club are pretty confident that he will be found not guilty as to me it just seems daft wasting a wage on him even for a couple of months.

If he is found not guilty then everyone deserves a second chance and i hope he turns out to be a cracking signing for us, after all nobody is whiter than white.

How about this for a scenario come the end of next season, Evans has just scored 30+ goals for us and a bigger team has come in with 1.5 Million offer for him, what would the fans be saying then.

On threads about Town fans and hooliganism we regularly see folk commenting about "innocent" fans getting banning orders etc and what an outrage it is.
Evans had his conviction quashed and having read a lot about the case I am genuinely surprised it even got to court.
Yes he had drunken sex with a stranger and cheated on his girlfriend. How many people can hand on heart say they have never done this in their youth, maybe some posters on here are currently engaged in extra marital affairs? The Brad, The Aka it was happening all the time, it still happens all the time.
How many times do we read about footballers and roasting or texting pictures of their genitals etc.
The Internet and social media in particular mean this is so easy to get out in the public domain, does anyone for a minute think this is a new thing?
Take for example Tom Jones, a man who had thousands of women during his long career. All this time he was married to the same woman and was he ever referred to as a "scumbag"? He was a judge on a prime time family tv show yet no one ever commented on how bad a role model he was.
Have I got a daughter? Yes I have. I was also a 20 something male who met plenty of 20 something females in my younger days and know that they are no different to blokes in what they get up to after a few bevvies.
I believe there's an awful lot of hypocrisy from some of those slinging the mud.
As far as whether we should have signed him goes I'm not sure. I won't enjoy the negativity and adverse publicity that this brings to our club but on the other hand I do believe that on the facts known so far he should be given a second chance to rebuild his career and life. If one things for certain he knows this is his big chance and unless he gives it his absolute all he knows he'll get nowhere.

haha, I shouldn't laugh, but I really hope you're right on this.
Another one... This could hopefully signal the beginning of the end for our yorkshire trio... Now that would be worth all that's going to come our way with signing of Ched

the big problem with this signing is that regardless of innocent or guilty, he carries with him the reputation in people's eyes that he is guilty, I don't know if he is or not but majority of people will forever judge him as guilty even if cleared in October, it just doesn't seem a very smart signing to me. I think the best thing for the player would have been to go and resurrect his career abroad, meanwhile we sign a striker without the heavy baggage. curious times at the proact

Naive - this will not go away, prepare for social media campaigns, protests outside the ground, thousands of column inches dedicated to this.

We haven't even waited for the retrial

PLUS he hasn't played football for 4 years

Just bad judgement all round - I'm afraid I'm out as well

Bye

See ya
