Thanks to the great UEFA planning the next games see Russia play in Lille the day before we play in Lens....a distance of a mere 24 miles apart. Plus due to Lens being pretty small Englands have been advised by UEFA, i believe, to stay in Lille and then travel to the ground the day of the game!

A lot of issues are down to UEFAs inability to be flexible with the schedule sorted by the draw 6 months ago....they assigned group positions from the draw to dates and stadiums and that was that irrelevant of the fact that England will play Wales in the second smallest stadium in the competition whilst Austria play Iceland in the 81,000 Stade De France in Paris! Also despite history of England in Marseilles from the 98 world cup, the melting pot of cultures in Marseille, the russian hooligan issue, it being 9pm on the sunny south coast of France at a weekend and by all accounts a load of PSG fans decided it was the weekend to travel down for a scrap with Marseille fans as well as an aside UEFA still cant rearrange a few things in 6 months from the draw to the tournament starting that would help matters.

Isn't there a state of emergency in place - where are any troops to help control the situation.
God I hate this league.

Just had a reply from a Russian I know who claims he knows some of the people involved and that this is a 'war among hooligans', the English started it all (hence no Russian arrests), no women or children were affected, and that the English deserved to be rushed inside the stadium for insulting Putin and Sharapova (imagine if they had insulted Cameron, eh?). He also claims nobody is funding this and that there are no political connections.

I'm posting this as evidence of how this being perceived by some Russian football fans. This bloke wouldn't say boo to a goose and has been a good friend of mine in the past, but I'm disgusted by his cheering on from the sidelines and shan't be contacting him again for a while.

Proper fruit loops those Russians. Can't think of anywhere I would rather visit less.

They apparently flew to Geneva and rented cars. That's what we are doing Saturday. Hope we don't bump into them on the way back next Tuesday, don't fancy getting the shìt kicked out of me to be honest 👀😁

Aren't the gounds allocated to the groups and then the teams allocated to the groups? It seems to be that way in all tournaments recently. Why should things be especially arranged for England just because they have "history" I presume they do this to cut down on the moaning that would occur if things didn't go the way some nations wanted. Perhaps they should go back to the system where teams played in particular regions/cities, at` least they could then lock down porential problems.

I did say it's all set in place then the draw in December just filled up the allocated places and dates. What I'm saying is that there should be some flexibility after that to move games around. Not just for any potential trouble spots, but England v Russia late on a Saturday in Marseille was bonkers, but for helping fans as well. England v Wales is arguably one of the games that could sell lots of tickets but is in the second smallest stadium whilst Austria v Iceland I think it is play in 81,000 seater stade de France! Uefa can't be bothered to do any extra organising that is just a sensible option.

The time of day and size of citty and stadium is immaterial as the trouble took place in a very big city in a very big stadium over a 48 hour period. It is up to visitors to any country to act with consideration and respect.

But you can move it to limit issues....not in Marseille would be a start, a weekday would probably lead to less fans travelling over as I suspect a lot of English were just there Friday to Sunday, earlier kick off would have broken the day up rather than all day in the pub before kick off.

It's also up to the locals to treat visitors with consideration and respect.

Italy looked very good. If I had have put a bet on an outright winner they'd have been my value pick each way.
