If you play early season tests at Headingley and the weather goes like it has then its never going to be pulsating stuff

I'm going tomorrow. Never seen anything other than a Yorkshire v Derbyshire T20 at Headingley (the first one ever).

Rained off at Belper Meadows yesterday when it was set up to be a decent game. We got to 160 odd on a track that was a good cricket wicket but the outfield was really slow due to the rain. They were 24-1 from 9 when it rained for a second time and we didn't get back on.

Less said about the conduct of a couple of belper players the better but appears cheering and laughing when someone is hit on the head is acceptable. I've also no time for folk who chin off all innings in the field when they don't bowl, bat a long way down the order and hide behind other folk when their spouting off causes issues. Also apoears they aren't adhering to the dccl social media policy!!

had to call our game off at 11am on Saturday - standing water on outfield, bowlers run ups a bog, wicket very very wet - called match contact in handbook who agreed to the cancellation (after telling me he was the wrong contact and me telling him that he was in the handbook!) - did result notification and told my team it was off

20 minutes later, phone call from their captain (not the match contact) who disagreed with the cancellation, told him result notification already done! He said we'd be only game off, told him Morton and Grassmoor (neighbouring villages) were already off, he then tells me he lives in Mosborough and it hadn't rained there so he was very sceptical as how it could be so bad in Holmewood as it was only 3 miles away! I told him he was welcome to come and look but game was already off, but it wouldn't take him long to do 3 miles (it's closer to 12) - he then starts whining about working all week and looking forward to a game, told him we were looking forward to it as well (in fact I had 2 of the team already at the ground netting!) but I can't control the weather!

Right decision in the end as heavens proper opened at 14:00 - no way we'd have finished and not many games in the entire DCCL did!

not surprised, something about that club that attracts idiots

Remember that idiot for them who stood in field and told us how bad we were when facing Asad Ali? He didn't bowl and came in at 11 and didn't know what end of bat to hold

Saw the Tweets - pathetic

Only full results I saw were games over pretty sharpish, as you say the majority we're rain affected. We knew what was coming weather wise after checking the rain radar and it was just a case of how much we got in before it arrived.

Stupid kids!!

England v Sri Lanka: second test.

Liking third umpire, Rod Tucker, for the way he makes a quick, no nonsense decision.

Do we really need the umpteen and minute-detail replays?

This bloke gets on with it and the game.
Never underestimate the stupidity of people

I mentioned it to someone at work from Belper (female) who knows a few who play for them and she says virtually to a man they're knobheads.

Sounds a reasonable description of them. Skipper was alright but he's just moved there from ambergate.

If it's the chap who used to captain Ambergate 2s he's a good fella. In fact when we played them he came for a beer with us and left his own team to it

Whiteley I think his name is. Was chatting with us as it rained whilst his team huddled away in the dressing room. Apparently he went there as they spoke well about wanting to get up the leagues and him captaining. Could be interesting to see if he sticks with them.

3 wins for us, Thursday Saturday and Sunday puts us in good positions in all 3 leagues.

Will you be making an appearance next Monday Tim? Show us "Wet Wicket" cricketers how its done?
