I was sat behind you Mick. Memory might be playing tricks but I recall Ernie had two of three stabs with the side of his foot before bundling it home. Surely not a classic. A match memorable because it was, and still is I think, the biggest league gate I've ever seen us play in front of. Glad to be corrected.

Even more so. One of the greatest performances (second half) I've ever seen by a Chesterfield goalkeeper, if not any goalkeeper courtesy of one Phil Tingat(sic) or was this another game? There must be others who recall the occasion.

Phil Tingay is still turning out for Staveley at cricket. Noticed he took four for not many the other week. Not bad at nearer seventy than sixty.

Played against us last season and looked as fit as a fiddle in the field.

Phil Tingay made his debut 3 days prior to the Villa game has a last minute replacement for Ron Tilsed at Bristol Rovers whereby the PA man announcing the changes to the programme named him as Cyril Tingate (if that's what your "sic" queries). A name that stuck for awhile.
After these 2 games we completed the season with yet another away fixture at tranmere. Had to miss a few nights out in "Eve" to fund them games

Good point well made, however Wilson did sign Charlie Austin from Poole Town

just reading this brought Jacob Hazel to mind so I tried to find out how he's doing with a view to seeing if he also might be climbing the ladder. Unfortunately I'm a technophobe and I'm bugggered if I can find his scoring stats. Can anybody help?

thanks. I got stuck after reading on the Frickley website that he made zero appearances, but then that he featured in all the match reports. I did wonder whether it was Liam Graham playing under an assumed name.

Got talking to Mitch about Jacob one night at St. Avely. I think Mitch thought that our youth set up at the time couldn't push Jacob enough. As a kid he was a natural composed finisher, but other basics of the game weren't drummed in to him.

It would be very short, about 10 words, Why appoint Saunders? Bad Decisions? Turner must go! Crap Season!

I would probably break down crying if I have to re-live that again.
