Back him. Think he's a decent manager and an honest bloke. Saying what you think isn't always right but Ok on this occasion.

On this issue I don't think I'd do either. I can't see that his comments are really a sacking offence, and I don't see how a person's sex has anything to do with their ability to apply a set of laws to a given situation. The woman in question has linoed here several times and ability-wise, looked no better or worse than any of the blokes. Perhaps Newell would be happier with that monstrously tubby guy we had at the back end of last season - every time the flag went up it looked like the Fat Controller pressed into service as a railway guard. :D

Agreed. I think it's a case of Luton have got to be seen to be doing something. I wonder what the feisty Cherry Newbery makes of it all? lol

sack him or back him on his comments regarding the woman linesman or his comments regarding the chairman has taken the club backwards over past two seasons?
re the linesman if those are his opinions he shouldnt have to apologise for them.
re the chairman theres onlyone winner there & its not mr newell.

I think what he said is unacceptable.

Under normal circumstances I think a retraction, an apology and some groveling (and a nice bunch of flowers :D ) might be enough. However when you also attack your Chairman the sexism charge might quickly turn into gross misconduct.

I have no problem with the gender of our officials- Spireiteblue will attack them regardless of the number of x chromosomes.

My own opinion: Back him

But frankly he can't expect to get away with comments like that these days. Wonder what his missus makes of it all! :D

Newell is a complete idiot, and a brainless bigot as well. The only thing that matters when judging someone's capability as a ref. is whether they have the necessary qualifications and experience to do the job adequately or not. It doesn't matter whether the individual is male, female, black, white, martian, or a chimpanzee, the point is - can they do the job? He should NOT be charged with any offence, because that would only give him some spurious and undeserved publicity; he should simply be ignored and allowed to wallow in the embarassment he has caused his club, and probably his family and friends.

Yes, that's perfectly OK by me, because everyone with a scrap of sense can clearly see how stupid he is, so he can spout his opinions all day as far as I'm concerned.
