He has apologised after all and made out he said it in the heat of the moment...

On this issue I don't think I'd do either. I can't see that his comments are really a sacking offence, and I don't see how a person's sex has anything to do with their ability to apply a set of laws to a given situation. The woman in question has linoed here several times and ability-wise, looked no better or worse than any of the blokes. Perhaps Newell would be happier with that monstrously tubby guy we had at the back end of last season - every time the flag went up it looked like the Fat Controller pressed into service as a railway guard.

Agreed. I think it's a case of Luton have got to be seen to be doing something. I wonder what the feisty Cherry Newbery makes of it all? lol

re the linesman if those are his opinions he shouldnt have to apologise for them.
re the chairman theres onlyone winner there & its not mr newell.

Under normal circumstances I think a retraction, an apology and some groveling (and a nice bunch of flowers

I have no problem with the gender of our officials- Spireiteblue will attack them regardless of the number of x chromosomes.

But frankly he can't expect to get away with comments like that these days. Wonder what his missus makes of it all!

She has been a lot better than most of the old over weight men linos who cannot keep up with play and miss loads off offsides,i find Newells comments distasteful and he should not only be sacked but be put on a F A charge with a hefty fine
