Give over that's nonsense

to be fair, that's what Toby described it as, not the newspaper, and he's not known for his football expertise!

It's the most important game of the season so far.

But it's hardly on a par with last season's play-off games. Or the Burton game the season before. Etc etc.

Column: Behind the cliches lies truth, fans DO have a part to play on Saturday. And if only for 90 minutes, a united front is required.

Great article Graham, agree 100% for the full 90 minutes no booing, no muttering about poor passes, just sing, shout and bang the drum for the whole time we are playing, win, draw or lose. Recriminations, slagging players/management/board off can happen after the whistle is blown.

So, if the tactics are negative; if certain players are not trying hard enough or at all; if the team clearly lack effort and demonstrate some form of derision to paying supporters....you are saying, save it until they are virtually down the tunnel and out of earshot? As a paying customer, I'll do as I deem fit, cheers...we pay the wages of the management and players, don't forget that. Some players are stealing a wage and have milked that cow for far too long; if they can't show some form of passion and commitment for such an important game then they deserve everything they get....

Nope- Marcia said to save it until the final whistle, which seems sensible to me in the circumstances.
These go to eleven.

Love the whole "We pay their wages" approach.

You'd be surprised to know that gate receipts only account for roughly 20% of player wages

At Town's level? I'd believe that if it were the Prem and I know we get a share of the overall TV money (which comes from the fans too) but where is your source for the 20% figure please?
These go to eleven.

My we have under achieved then.
6k crowds at 15 quid a pop over 23 games is more than 2 million. We must have a hell of a playing budget

Not really: the players usually stay on the pitch to acknowledge the crowd after the game. They'll rush off if they've endured 90 minutes' abuse, sure, but for one match only, given that we've still a chance of staying up even after having Dean Saunders manage us, is it too much to ask to keep the bile (even if deserved) down until that final whistle blows? If they've not put in the effort, as happened v Sheff U, then at that point the players deserve all they get, but slagging and moaning at them during the match like Wolves fans do is not going to help our cause.
These go to eleven.

I think the level of performance will dictate the response, if the players turn up and put on a show / do their best then they will no doubt get good support.
If they aren't up for it, or underperform or are just plain crap then they will get both barrels.
And that will happen regardless of what anyone appeals for on here.
If you do what you always do, you'll get what you always get.

Are you seriously suggesting the 40 or so posters on here who are obviously the most reasonable level headed supporters of the club can't influence the views of 6000????

That's Blasphemy I say......

Scenario: most players put in no effort, we lose, they are booed at full time; are you saying that the players will stay on the pitch and acknowledge such a response? Regardless of what Saunders did (I was a vehement critic from day one), DW hasn't really done much better and some of his signings, tactics and performances shouldn't go without criticism. You'd think with such a vital match at stake that players wouldn't need anything to help their cause; their motivation should be obvious......we will see what transpires.
