I know everyone is hacked off but surely starving the club of funds as a form of complaint is the last thing we need. Dave Allen is Dave Allen. Danny Wilson is making the right noises about next season. You won't change anything by aggressive fund withholding. Let's take a moment to reconsider. After all, what would we have to moan about if we didn't have a football club!

Interesting. I'd never considered that people taking a calm, reasoned decision not to buy something might be described as "aggressive fund withholding" ...

Danny Wilson making the right noises is fine mate but the year before we had Cook doing the same leaflets radio ads the lot and he knew he was already on his bike.

At the end of the day it's a lot of money to support town and there are many other alternative ways to spend it, not to mention the additional time to spend with the family, where applicable. You can't bemoan people for not renewing, the Club have to be worthy of the purchasing decision. I've renewed personally but I would not criticise a single person for taking the opposite view, in fact I find it very easy to see why they wouldn't want to at the moment.

I'm noting people deliberately not buying tickets to spite the club, that's all ...

Interesting thread. I thought I'd give you the reasons why I'm not renewing my season ticket so you can understand why some fans are choosing to 'starve the club of cash'.

I've had a season ticket for as long as I can remember and missed less than a dozen home games in about 40 years, but I've decided not to renew. Even I find it difficult to believe that I won't be buying one, but I really don't think I'll get £365 worth of entertainment from it. I thought I'd always be there supporting my local team in whatever division we're in, but I've completely had enough now. The lack of investment in the team, the alleged 'irregularities' behind the scenes is bad enough, but what's really done it for me is the last three performances. The tactics of playing one man up front (at most) in an effort to grind out a point whilst making no real effort to score a goal is my opinion utterly pathetic and I simply can't bear the thought of watching this negative tripe any longer. All this is made even worse by a seemingly lack of effort and commitment by a number of the players.

I'm not blaming all my apathy on DW, although he's got to take the blame for the last three 'performances', CT and DA are more to blame for employing DS who gave contracts to players who should have been released and made big money signings who have been very disappointing to say the least (Novak excepted - who's now running himself into the ground each week because he's got no support).

DW can make all the 'right noises' he wants and I really wish him well (he's one on favourite ever CFC players), but I've simply had enough. I don't know about starving the club of funds, but I know I've been starved of entertainment recently and I can't see that changing any time soon.

Without wishing to detract from the sentiment of your post , and I respect your opinion as a loyal Spireite , but if your decision to get a season ticket for all of that time has been predicated on entertainment then I'd suggest you've adopted a loose definition of the word for much of that lengthy period.

Too right! I think the difference is that during most of that time (with one notable exception!) I always thought the 'people behind the scenes' were doing what they believed was best for the club. They clearly weren't always right, but nobody is. I don't have that feeling any longer.

I also can't recall seeing so little effort or commitment from a Town side. I've no problem with losing to a better side on the day and every player has 'off days', but the amount of games where some players don't appear to be putting in 100% effort or commitment (which is all I ask of a player in the side because I can forgive a lack of skill and ability!) has been far too often.

I agree. We are Rubbish. The players for the most part aren't at the required standard and I think half the time it looks like they aren't trying because they aren't at the races. The tactic of playing one up is because Wilson has to pack the midfield to even try and compete and even that doesn't work.
We're at a crossroads. Clearly the owner wants out and his appointed CEO ( hahaha the very thought makes me laugh is running the club in the interests of the owner not the club and definitely not the huge inconvenience that is the fans,
For what it's worth I feel like you're cutting your nose off to spite your face a little bit. If you've missed a handful of games in 40 years you clearly love the club and I for one can't just switch that emotion off despite all the logic and common sense in my body telling me otherwise.
See you next season.

I'm not getting a season ticket for 2 reasons

1. My friends who I used to go to the match with no longer go for some reason so it is now depressing going on my own.

2. I am unemployed and struggled to scrape the money together for this season's ST let alone next season! I cannot justify the expense any more.

I'm waiting for an in depth interview from DA where he spells out his vision for the club, acknowledge his mistakes and how he is going to rectify them.

If he does this to my satisfaction, I'll renew my season ticket not knowing what division we are in next season with pleasure

I'll probably renew, I love the club and can't imagine doing anything else with my time on a Saturday, sadly I don't think my daughter will be coming with me this season so I'll be on my own, but I'm not bothered, the important part for me is going to the match.

Similar to marriage vows mate, for better for worse, for richer for poorer, in sickness and in health.
I love going to watch town, but at a very early age I was realistic enough to understand that town are a mid table, third tier of English football type of club, there are likely to be as many lows as highs and chances are they will be the exception, rather than the norm of long spells of mediocrity.
I suppose if you have to be given reasons to make you go and watch your team, chances are you won't be going whatever I say.

you have no right to tell people what they should or should not do especially when it comes to their hard earned cash and whether they should buy into a season ticket.

We are no better off for having 4000 ST holders...we're still losing money hand over fist somehow and needing to sell anything that can move score or play and are expected to like lemmings reward this with blind faith

a proper financial expert to report on WTF is happening at the club and to advise why we are losing so much money would be a start with a plan to sort it out. then and only then would i buy a ST. People have families and commitments they don't need lectures.

A final point....being someone who doesn't want to face problems enables the problems to continue and debts to spiral and the mess to worsen.
