Disagree, should be sung at any time when we need to come together. Before each game and any time during.

Why? I've never heard anywhere match the feeling i had when standing at Liverpool ( the first team i supported) and singing 'You'll never walk alone'. Since moving to Chesterfield and watching town for 29 years, who are now my 1st team i support, yesterday was the first time i had the hairs stand on the back of my neck.

Sing it together before every game, home and away, sing it when we're winning, sing it when we're losing. Use it to lift the team, use it to celebrate.

But it wasn't until we got infront that the whole ground joined in......when we were in effect .......sailing.

The words of the song dont have to be so one dimensional. Traveling over land and sea - Sailing, Flying - could say that we go to end of the world to support the Blues. Stormy waters, and dark clouds, can refer to struggle when we're behind and nead a lift. Its not just a song for when we're winning, it can bring us together, lift the team and 'can you hear me' intimidate the opposition.

They won't sing anything other than chant Adkins out once they are 2 down and their end starts emptying

So if our players think their opponents might put in a bit of effort then they should resolve to not try? Bollocks- if we do get Sailing echoing around the Proact then it can make a difference and might establish a tradition.

The truth, IMO, is that old, cheesy, easy to sing along to songs are absolutely perfect for large crowds because everybody of every age can join in. Songs that represent individual tastes are no good at all for large crowds, so your own personal favourites just won't work. tradition is all-important with football songs; I thought 'Amarillo' was great- easy to sing along to, catchy, and totally irrelevant, in other words, absolutely perfect for a big crowd. As far as I'm concerned, the cheesier the better, and people can keep their own, individual preferences to themselves.

IMO that takes first prize for the most irrelevant post of the week/season. The point of football songs is NOT the quality of the song or the singer, but what it means to the fans who are singing it.

Whether it's Sailing or Blue Flag, it doesn't really matter. Both will not hold much sentiment to the younger element of our support but both are fantastic when blasted out by us all. It's all about getting involved and blasting it out. Last week at Barnsley after Novak put us ahead, the atmosphere was fantastic. The Novak song is a new one but when a crowd of 1100 are singing it to a man, it sounds brilliant. Get 8,0000 tomorrow giving it their all, whether it's a Sailing or Blue Flag, the roof will come off.

You are taking 'sailing' far too literally. The relevance is that 'sailing' doesn't necessarily refer to a vessel floating on water, but to a person/group/team sailing along i.e. winning, forging ahead, progressing, being positive, etc etc. The song is therefore perfectly suited to a situation when we are winning, especially after coming through from behind - just as at Barnsley last Saturday.

Ok.??? Where have I said that my choice of song is perfect? In fact where have I put a choice of song in????
I mentioned that we sing that the blue flag flies from Saltergate to Wembley, but never said that we HAVE to sing that.
"Sailing" is a cheesy seventies song and (like I said) we are now in a new era, stadium so why not let the new kop choose a new anthem? Sailing hasn't always been sung at our games so why are we wanting it now? Because the middle aged to old supporters are wanting to revisit the time they sung it that time at Saltergate when they were younger and it made them feel good.
Why don't they just listen to it when they sit on their Harley Davidson in the garage. #midlifecrisis
