Is it more the case that Gboly is now being marked out of the game by 2 opponents as our main threat?

I don't know, he's been tightly marked but his ball control sometimes makes me cringe.I hope he's not going to be remembered this season for the one brilliant game at Rochdale. He can win us a lot more games this season if he puts in that extra effort he's a class player but has to prove his worth.

Maybe when we have a lot more goal threat from more players then that will prevent teams marking him out with 2 or more players.

they didn't have to for their goal. Yet another shambles. Great credit due for the comeback though.

It looked a shocker at first glance.

If he's tightly marked, he's basically screwed. When he has a bit of space, he is indeed the 'poor man's Ronaldo'

No need to mark him out with two or more players. A decent full back will have him in his pocket I'm afraid. He is a luxury we can ill afford. He flatters to deceive going forward and offers absolutely nothing defensively. He was woeful on Saturday and that has been the case time and time again this season. I could handle his lathargic, disinterested demeanour if I knew when he got hold of the ball he offered a significant threat. Unfortunately this is not the case.

I tend to agree. You can afford to give an inconsistent player a run early in the season but we just can't carry somebody for 3 or 4 games waiting for one good one at this stage of the season in our current position. DW isn't daft, and I imagine that's why he brought JCR in - I wouldn't be surprised to see him starting and Gboly on the bench from now on.

The fact that we're missing John these next two games may mean he still starts.

I hadn't realised that was confirmed. Pretty rotten timing, just as he was getting settled in.

He's had a disappointing season, but he's the only midfielder besides Liddle who stops us being bullied. We need somebody like that to give the third midfielder, if any, more of the ball to use constructively.
Well, I can dream..

Not very often I agree with you h and I think Herd is a poor player, but the next two games are games we need to ensure we do not lose, so the two clubs involved don't gain ground on us. Herd is at least a player that will try and stop the opposition running through us at will as at the minute we don't look like a team that can score 2 or 3 to win a match if the opposition get through

I've also come to the conclusion of starting Herd in CM which I'm not happy with.

I'm not so sure, which was the game he got injured in when we actually looked a lot weaker when he went off?

Wasn't it the Crewe game? We were cruising, then looked crap after he went off as they continually walked through us.

Might have been, I'll admit I'm not Herds biggest fan but we are, in recent games at least, missing that aggression in midfield, I'd put a fit Herd at the side of Banks in front of Diamo at the moment.

Yeh that's a fair shout considering how powderpuff we are in there at the minute. Hatchet Herd will improve Banks' game.
