Good on Donohue, pity he was not wielding a baseball bat to cave all the wallsall players heads in,never in all my days have I ever seen a more disgraceful celebration than that utterly despicable behaviour that warrants a massive fine for Walsall...next time it happens Dion make sure you knock em cold.

I agree whoever Walsall play in the playoffs I will be supporting. There actions celebrating the goal were disgraceful.

What goes around comes around Sam Manton. Actually looking at the coverage there number 2 and Sawyers look like the main culprits here.

Wish he'd have actually smacked one of them. If you're gonna get sent off, do it rate.

Swinging a fist and not hitting someone is presumably the same number of games banned so childish it may be, but I agree. The professional response from Danny Wilson will be condemnation for him getting involved but privately he'll be pleased that he was prepared to stand up for a team-mate.

 I'd like to think so but doubt it.Yes the Walsall yob players deserve some retrospective punishment but I'm afraid Dion would be very lucky to get his red rescinded for what you could gleam from the camera evidence.

The YouTube highlights show exactly what he did. It's after what the sky highlights show. What a plonker.

Disgraceful from their players also though. Never seen anything like if after scoring a goal!

Thought their celebrations were pathetic after the second goal and can't believe they didn't get more punishment for it. Never really seen anything like it, 4 players basically rugby scrumming Sam Hird. There was no need to even go near him. Weird bunch.

Why did they do that? All 4 of theirs could have been sent off for violent conduct, thenwe could have replayed the game(surely we wouldn't have been as bad the 2nd time around.lol).

I've watched hird's interview on player and he said the referee told him he didn't see the Walsall players dragging him back whilst they celebrated the goal. The ref is lying then as he quite plainly sees it and runs towards them blowing his whistle and waving his arms as Tommy's trying to get Sam out.

What were the lino and 4th official doing then, because we could clearly see Hird being dragged into the advertisement boards at the side of the net. There should have been at lest 2 more sendings off from that incident.

At least 4 players should have been booked from them and at least one sent off from them . Dion deserved red

And, if you are referring to the "at least 2 more sendings off from that incident" as meaning Walsall players then the decisions made by the referee and his officials may have had a massive impact on the result.

Let's just forget the boys in blue for a minute - how many of their players should have got a red card - 1,2,3 or 4?

Anything over "zero" makes it a decision that could have changed the game.

Simple as.

Thought it was Bradshaw but I might have been wrong.

Anyway, shouldn't the ref only have stopped play if it was a head injury?

May well have been Bradshaw, I assume stopping play is entirely at the refs discretion, as in if you get a leg break you can immediately stop play.
Whichever way you look at it there was knack all wrong with him and as soon as the big fairy got up he should have been booked.

From looking at that again I can't see how the ref can possibly say he didn't see Hird getting dragged away, he was on the scene pretty quick for something he never saw.
Lesson to be learnt, Sam Hird should have let them push him a bit then go down and roll around like a big girl

Totally agree! He let the team down. But the lad will learn!
Can't believe that some on here condone his conduct. Or even made it worse for himself. No excuse for any violence on or off the pitch!

In that sequence you can clearly see a hand to Donahue's throat followed by a hand to his face. He should not have got involved but in the heat of the moment who wouldn't defend his mate. He 'retaliated' with a bit of a forearm smash so was going to end up with a red.

It always seems to be the retaliation that is punished and not the provocation.

Walsall's next three games are against Fleetwood, Colchester and Shrewsbury. I hope that the club or the FA don't follow it up as if any Walsall players do get banned it could effect us again

Tbh I don't think there was anything contrived by walsall. They're flying high, and going for promotion. We'd celebrate much the same way in their shoes. Sam just got caught up in the ruck. Pure accident by them. He actually could have got a red card himself if you watch closely. It's gone. Let's mive on, maybe even using them as a template to adopt as a club and as a playing style.

If their next 3 were against oldham, blackpool and doncaster you might have a point

sorry, I don't agree with this at all, if you watch it back, their players initially run away from goal in celebration then return on mass and move hird together, he hardly gets caught up in an accident and if you want us to applaud them as a club for this i'm sorry I can't. I think they are a decent side who would have beaten us yesterday anyway but this unfortunately spoilt the occasion.
