Yeah remember when Leon Clarke played for us , think he scored 9 in 14 but people suggested he wasn't good enough for us because he didn't do much? Some people even used the excuse his goal scoring record didn't count because he got 3 in 1 game 😂

Am I right in thinking his timing for heading a ball from a goal kick/kick out out keepers hand was poor. Nowt to do with his scoring record l know, just something what sticks in my mind from his time hear

Clarke scored most of those at the start of his spell and often seemed a bit less interested after that, or at best he lost form. When he's on his game at this level he's great but he never really seems to keep it going for too long at a club.
These go to eleven.

Did n
owt at Oldham?

Scored 5 in 11 games. For a bottom 4 side.

If scoring a goal every other is doing nowt, then I'd like a striker who does nowt at town.

So, why didn't Oldham sign him rather than let him go to a club in the conference?

Remember Craig Davies getting abuse at Gillingham away for being lazy (in the Title winning season)!

He got a load at Stockport away that year as well...was ridiculous!! He then either made it scored our equaliser!

I always got the feeling Leon Clark only played as well as he wanted to play, he didn't seem too bothered towards the end of his spell here.

As soon as you don't score for a few games and you have his languid style, you're automatically deemed not bothered and lazy. Same happened with Craig Davies when he had a baron spell. Both quality, single minded, selfish strikers for us.

Town fans would rather have players that run around a lot even though they have limited ability. I would rather have quality.

He probably knew he was off to charlton as soon as his loan deal here ended so didn't worried bout not giving 100% maybe?

I thought Leon Clarke was one of the most natural, talented players we've seen in recent years. I think his character left a lot to be desired and perhaps wasn't suited to managers in the mould of Di Canio and Shezza, both who's characters left a lot to be desired, reportedly.

I would have liked to see play under Cook.

It is, only recently moved there. According to Wikipedia anyway, soccerbase has Alex Mendy being born in 94 😕

Not 100% sure if it is or not! Wikipedia lists 2 by the same name and has both at Nice currently.

This is the one we had :-
https://en.m.wikiped...Alexandre_Mendy

Apparently joined Nice after spells at hansa Rostock and saarbrucken which is a bit if a strange path.

There is also this one that's come through the ranks at Nice :
https://en.m.wikiped...ller,_born_1994)

I've a feeling someone's got confused and updated our ones entry to add Nice incorrectly.

My daughter always tells me not to believe anything on Wikipedia! Yes, you're right, someone updating "our" Alex Mendy's page has got a little over-excited and linked him with the player at OGC Nice (who is ten years his junior!)

Lots of former Town players in action tonight. Darikwa and O'Hara on opposing benches at Craven Cottage and James Hurst up against Higdon and Ridehalgh at Guiseley. At Grimsby, Craig Clay is on the home bench watching Westcarr play for Southport!
